TOURIST, TRANSIT AND BUSINESS VISA

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO MEXICAN VISA REQUIREMENTS STARTING MAY 1ST, 2010

With the purpose of facilitating and promoting travel to Mexico, starting May 1st, 2010:

Any foreign visitors who travel to Mexico as tourists, on business, or in transit to another country will not require a Mexican visa, regardless of their country of citizenship, as long as they have a valid passport and a valid US visa (which must be shown to Mexican Immigration authorities at the Port of Entry).

*Requirements for foreigners who do not travel to Mexico as tourists, on business or in transit will not change.

CAMBIOS  IMPORTANTES EN LOS REQUERIMIENTOS PARA VISAS MEXICANAS A PARTIR DEL 1RO MAYO DE 2010

Con el propósito de facilitar y promover el turismo a México, a partir del 1ro de mayo de 2010:

1)   Cualquier extranjero que arribe a México con el propósito de realizar actividades de turismo, de negocios, o en tránsito a un tercer país, no requerirá tramitar una visa mexicana, independientemente de su país de ciudadanía, siempre y cuando cuente con pasaporte válido y vigente y una  visa estadounidense válida y vigente.

*Los requisitos para los extranjeros que viajen a México con el propósito de realizar actividades distintas a  turismo, negocios o en tránsito no cambian.

U.S. and CANADIAN CITIZENS:

United States and Canadian Citizens as a tourists, transit and business do not require a visa in order to visit Mexico. However, they require a tourist card (FMM), may be obtained at any port of entry. They are required to present one of the following documents:

1. Valid passport. 
2. Valid passport card (only for U.S. citizens)

 

U.S. PERMANENT RESIDENTS:

U.S. Permanent residents visiting Mexico as tourists, transit and business do not require a visa to be stamped in their passports by the Mexican Consulate, regardless of their nationality. Mexican Immigration officers at points of entry will require them to present a valid passport or travel document and proof of residence by means of a U.S. Permanent Resident Card or the following documents:

1. Permanent resident cards
2. Notice of action (indicating expired resident card is extended)
3. Reentry permit 
4. Adit stamp (I-551stamp)
5. Trasportation letter

In order to grant entry. However a completed tourist card (FMM) is required. This FMM may be at any port of entry into Mexico.

 

CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENTS:

Canadian Permanent residents visiting Mexico as tourists, transit and business do not require a visa to be stamped in their passports by the Mexican Consulate, regardless of their nationality. Mexican Immigration officers at points of entry will require them to present a valid passport or the following documents:

1. Permanent resident cards
2. Certicate of identity

In order to grant entry. However a completed tourist card (FMM) is required. This FMM may be at any port of entry into Mexico.

 

PASSENGERS IN A TOURIST CRUISE

Passengers embarking on tourist cruises do not require a visa to visit Mexico regardless of their nationality; they only need to present a valid passport at points of entry.
