TEMPORARY RESIDENCE (MORE THAN 180 DAYS AND LESS THAN 4 YEARS)

This visa applies when you will stay in Mexico more than 180 days for retirement, investments, professional activities, technical activities, artistic activities, scientific activities, sport activities or a minister of religion; without permission to perform remunerated activities.

Requirements

1.- Apply at this Consulate in person.

2.- Valid passport, and photocopy of the page with the bearer’s personal data, picture and signature.

3.- Fill out the application form either typed or clearly printed.

4.- Document that proves that the applicant is a foreign legal resident of the USA (I-797, I-20 advance parole, etc). Not for US citizens.

5.- One recent photo passport size, front view, color with white background. No glasses.

6.- Proof of economic solvency:

a)     Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with a balance of at least $25,000.00 US Dollars during the previous 12 months. OR

b)    Original and copy of documents showing that the applicant has a job or pension that yields a monthly income of $1,560.00 US Dollars after taxes during the previous 6 months.


7.- Pay the consular fee, either with cash, credit or debit card. Personal checks are not accepted. Consular fee: $36.00 USD.

 

 

VISA FOR THE SPOUSE OF THE TEMPORARY RESIDENT:

  1. Visa Application.
  2. Valid passport and copy of the main page.
  3. One color picture, passport size, front view, with no eyeglasses and white background.
  4. Document that proves that the applicant is a foreign legal resident of the USA (I-797, I-20 advance parole, etc). (Not for US citizens)
  5. $36.00 dollars in cash or credit payment (Visa or Mastercard).
  6. Original and copy of marriage certificate or proof of common-law marriage.
  7. Original and copy of permanent resident card or visa obtained by the retired spouse.
  8. Proof of economic solvency:

a)     Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with a balance of at least $1,555.00 US Dollars during the previous 12 months.

OR

b)    Original and copy of documents showing that the applicant has a job or pension that yields a monthly income of $518.00 US Dollars after taxes during the previous 6 months.

 

AFTER ENTERING MEXICO WITH THIS KIND OF VISA, YOU SHOULD GO TO THE NEAREST “INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE MIGRACIÓN” (INM) OFFICE TO GET YOUR RESIDENT ID.

  • EVERYONE WHO REQUIRES A VISA, REGARDLESS OF AGE, NEEDS TO APPLY FOR IT IN PERSON.
  • VISA PROCESSING TIME IS FIVE BUSINESS DAYS.
  • DO NOT BUY YOUR TICKET BEFORE YOU GET A VISA.
  • IF THE APPLICATION DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO PROCESS IT.
  • THE ISSUANCE OF THE VISA IS SUBJECT TO THE CONSULAR INTERVIEW.
