General information 

Before scheduling an appointment, check if you require a visa to travel to Mexico as a tourist:

Applicants with a valid and unexpired visa from any of the following countries do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes: Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or any of the countries of the Schengen Area.

Applicants with a Permanent Resident card from any of the following countries do not need a visa to enter to Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes: Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of the countries of the Schengen Area.

If the permanent resident card or US visa is expired but you have an official document or form proving your legal status in USA, you must apply for a Mexican visa at this Consulate. All EAD cards, I-797 A Forms, I-751, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 OR DS-2019 are not accepted to enter Mexico.

 

If you wish to travel to Mexico as a temporary or permanent resident, you must apply for a visa.

Visa Application Procedure

Step 1. Review and Gather Required Documents

Check the requirements according to the type of visa you need to apply for: [See requirements here].

Important: All public documents (birth, marriage, death certificates, etc.) issued by a country other than Mexico or the United States must be apostilled or legalized by the appropriate authorities of the issuing country.

If the applicant is not a U.S. citizen, you must provide the original and a copy of the document proving legal residence in the U.S. (e.g., I-797, I-20, Advance Parole, etc.).

On the day of your appointment, bring original documents and photocopies. All applicants must submit:

Note: The application fee is nonrefundable, regardless of whether the visa is approved or denied.


Step 4. Payment of Visa Fee

On the day of your appointment, you must pay the $54.00 USD processing fee before submitting your documents. Payment can be made in cash or by Visa or MasterCard.


Step 5. Interview and Processing

A consular officer will review your documents and conduct a brief interview.
