Are you traveling to Mexico?
Welcome to the Visa Section of the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City, with jurisdiction over the States of Kansas, Missouri and western of Oklahoma. The following requirements are for informational purposes and could be subject to change. Please contact the Consulate directly to program your appointment and confirm the required documentation.
If you are traveling to Mexico and you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a visa. You only need a valid passport.
If you are a U.S. Permanent Resident you do not need a visa, regardless of your nationality. You only need a valid passport or travel document and your permanent resident card in order to travel to Mexico.
For US Citizens:
1. If you are traveling by air, land or sea you are required to present a valid U.S. passport when returning to the U.S. at the corresponding point of entry. Airlines may also require you to present a valid passport.
2. People who are visiting Mexico for business, transit or tourism are allowed to stay up to 180 days without a visa.
For U.S. Permanent Residents:
If you are traveling by air, land or sea to Mexico, you are required to present a valid Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as Green Card) and a valid passport.
For other nationalities and Non-U.S. Permanent Residents:
Regardless of their nationality, all foreign nationals holders of a valid U.S. visa, and a valid passport of their country of origin do not need a Mexican visa.
Note: If the U.S. visa stamped in your passport has already expired, but you have an official document or form from the United States Government proving your documented status in the U.S., you must apply for a Mexican visa at the Consulate in Kansas City.
To apply for a Mexican Tourist visa you will need:
To present a (I-797 A) form, I-20 form (if you are student) or DS-2019 form, accordingly.
To present a valid passport and one photocopy of the pages containing the personal information, photograph of bearer and expiration date/extensions.
To present Valid U.S. visa for multiple entries, with at least 3 months of validity at the time of your filing.
To present proof of economic solvency (i.e.: bank statements, pay stubs, international credit card statements, actual credit card) with one photocopy.
Make a payment of the consular fee for $36 dollars.
To submit one front-view pictures in color, passport size (2” x 2”).
Once you provide all your paperwork and fulfill the requirements listed above, you will get an appointment to obtain the visa. Appointments are available from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, in the phone number (816) 556 0800 ext.725
