Are you traveling to Mexico?
Welcome to the Visa Section of the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City. Please note that the requirements presented in this section apply to the Consulate of Mexico in Kansas City, whose jurisdiction includes the States of Kansas, Missouri and Northeast of Oklahoma and these requirements could be subject to change.
If you are traveling to Mexico and you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a visa. You only need a valid passport.
If you are a US Permanent Resident you do not need a visa, despite your nationality. You only need a valid passport or travel document and your permanent resident card in order to travel to Mexico.
For US Citizens:
- Traveling by air, land or sea is required to present a US passport at the point of entry.
- People who are visiting Mexico for business, transit or tourism are allowed to stay up to 180 days without a visa.
For US Permanent Residents:
Traveling by air, land or sea to Mexico is required to present a valid Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) and valid passport.
For other nationalities and Non-US Permanent Residents:
Regardless of their nationality all foreign nationals who are holding a valid US visa and valid passport do not need a Mexican visa.
Note: If the US visa stamped in your passport has already expired, but you have an official document or form proving your legal status in the US, you should apply for a Mexican visa at the Consulate.
To apply for a Mexican Tourist visa you will need:
To present the (I-797 A) form, I-20 (if you are student) or DS-2019 form and present them to a Consular Official.
To present a valid passport and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information, photograph of bearer and expiration date/extensions
To present Valid US visa for multiple entries; at least with 3 months of validity at the time of your filing and one photocopy.
To proof of economic solvency (i.e.: bank statements, pay stubs, international credit card statement, actual credit card) with one photocopy.
Make a payment of the consular fee for $36 dollars.
To submit one front-view pictures, passport size (2” x 2”).
Once you provide all your paperwork and fulfill the requirements listed above, you will get an appointment to obtain the visa. In order to submit your visa application you need to make a previous appointment from 8:30am - 5pm Monday through Friday to the following phone number 816 556 0800 ext.725
