El Departamento de Asuntos Políticos se encarga de:

 

  • Mantener contacto directo y periódico con las oficinas de gobierno locales, así como con actores políticos de las 88 ciudades que constituyen el Condado de Los Ángeles. Mantener y fortalecer las relaciones con legisladores y supervisores de la circunscripción.
  • Apoyar al Cónsul General en el establecimiento de contactos locales para difundir las acciones del Consulado y una buena imagen de México.
  • Mantener un vínculo directo entre el Consulado y las oficinas de los tres órdenes del Gobierno de México, así como con sus oficinas de enlace establecidas en Los Ángeles.
  • Asistir y participar en foros políticos de interés para México dentro de la circunscripción consular.
  • Atender las solicitudes de funcionarios electos y otros actores políticos locales, estatales y federales del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos, dentro de nuestra  circunscripción consular.
  • Difundir entre la comunidad local, información relativa a la actualidad política mexicana.
  • Asistir al Cónsul General en la elaboración de informes sobre la situación política local y estatal.
  • Asistir al Cónsul General en la realización de misiones políticas de personalidades de la circunscripción.

 

People in the following cases DO NOT NEED TO PROCESS A MEXICAN VISA, as long as the time of their visit is less than 180 days.

  • American citizen

  • Canadian citizen

  • Lawful permanent residents and citizen from USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of the countries of the Schengen Area.

  • Holders any kind of Valid Visa USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of the countries of the Schengen Area

  • For Countries and regions that do not require a visa to travel to Mexico please look into National Migration Institute

In the immigration review filter, they must present:

  • VALID Passport or valid identity and travel document that is valid in accordance with international law.

  • VALID visa o VALID green card from one of the countries mentioned above. (Letters extending the validity of residency cards or immigration status or single-entry visas will not be accepted. If this were the case, you would have to apply for a consular visa)

  • FMM stamped on arrival (by air)

I WILL BE TRAVELING TO MEXICO IN A CRUISE SHIP. DO I NEED A VISA?

Visitors who travel on cruise ships that disembark at any Mexican port to visit the port and surrounding zones and embark on the same ship to continue their voyage, DO NOT require a visa.

They have a collective permission for a period of 21 days.

The passenger must carry a valid and not expired passport or travel document.

Since the beginning on January 1st, 2024, the amount of $53 dollars will be charged for each visa application received, regardless of whether or not it is authorized:

  • Every visa application will generate a NON-REFUNDABLE payment.

  • In the case of visa rejection, the payment will not be refunded.

  • This provision is not applicable in the case of visas without charge. (Only exceptional visas)

If your work visa application has already been authorized and you have your AUTHORIZATION LETTER (NUT), you could request an appointment for a visa interview.

You must submit the following documents:

  1. Appointment confirmed printed.

  2. Passport valid, original and one copy (sheets available for visa stamping).

  3. A RECENT front photograph passport size with visible face without glasses, color printed, passport size with white background. No earrings, no piercings.

  4. INAMI authorization letter with NUT number.

  5. Proof of legal status in the United States original and copy (visa, I-94, ESTA PRINTED in English or Spanish) No apply for Americans.

  6. Pay the appropriate Consular Fees $53.00 U.S dollars. Payment in this office exactly cash or card.

PRIOR TO SCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT FOR THE CONSULAR INTERVIEW, YOU SHOULD TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THIS WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN SPANISH OR IN A THIRD LANGUAGE UNDERSTANDABLE FOR BOTH PARTIES.

THEREFORE YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE YOU SPEAK ANY OF THESE LANGUAGES (ENGLISH OR SPANISH). INTERPRETER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

 

 

VISITOR VISAS

IF YOU HAVE A CURRENT VISA OR PERMANENT RESIDENT FROM THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: USA, CANADA, JAPAN, UK OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY PERTAINING TO SCHENGEN. WILL NOT BE NECESSARY TO APPLY FOR A MEXICO VISA.

IF YOU HAVE THE FORMS I-20 OR I-797/I-797A, YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO APPLY FOR A MEXICAN VISA AT YOUR NEAREST CONSULATE FROM YOU ADDRESS.

  2. Valid Passport or Identity Travel Document. Original and a vertical real size copy. (A blank passport page is required for visa stamping)

  3. A front RECENT photograph passport size with visible face without glasses, color printed, passport size with white background. No earrings, no piercings.

  4. Original and copy of document proving their legal status in this country.

  • If you are student, school letter and official transcripts will be required. Form I-20 must have a valid travel endorsement.

  • If you are student/OPT, form I-20, valid travel endorsement, employment authorization card and letter from your employer is required

  • If you are a legal resident of the USA and your resident card has expired, you must present the expired card and a letter of extension of validity.

  1. Proof economic solvency.

    *Bank statements, savings or checking accounts of the last 3 months with a minimum ending balance of $4,500.00 USD per each month under applicant name, no joint account.

    *Or, prove financial solvency through work income. Original and copy of the documents that demonstrate that you have employment or pension with monthly income greater than the equivalent of $1500.00 USD (one hundred days of the general minimum wage in force in the Federal District), during the last three months and ORIGINAL proof of employment stable with a minimum age of one year.

    • Submit check stubs for the last three months.

    • Original letter from your employer on letterhead with autograph signature.

    • Bank account statements in your name reflecting the deposit of your payroll payment. (Last three months)

  2. Pay at this office $53.00 USD visa no refundable fee. Exactly change or card are accepted

Tourist visas are authorized in strict compliance with the requirements stipulated in the current Migration Law and based on a satisfactory consular interview.

The authorization to enter the country and the temporarily of the stay allowed in Mexican territory will be determined by the immigration authority at the point of internment

  8. Original of letter of acceptance from an institution belonging to the Sistema Educativo Nacional in which aims to study this letter must specify:

  • Full name of the applicant.

  • Level, degree and area of study that the applicant intends to carry out.

  • Name of the course in which the applicant has been accepted.

  • Starting and ending date of the course

  • Tuition fees of the course, and

  • Details identifying the educational institution

El programa de Cooperación Educativa y Cultura Comunitaria, tiene como objetivo fortalecer la relación entre instituciones de educación superior mexicanas con sus contrapartes estadounidenses con el propósito de incrementar la presencia de mexicanos en universidades; aumentar convenios, becas, intercambios estudiantiles y fondos para investigaciones.

En materia cultural, se enfoca en la promoción de programas de arte en instituciones académicas, así como el apoyo a iniciativas de los portadores de las culturas originarias. Además de la cooperación con iniciativas de la sociedad civil, con fin de fortalecer los rasgos de identidad y vínculos con la cultura mexicana en Los Ángeles.

Como parte de su programación anual presenta una serie de eventos de corte musical, literario, cinematográfico y escénico que se llevan a cabo en el Consulado General; así mismo, colabora con diversas instituciones en la promoción de eventos culturales de trascendencia para la comunidad mexicana residente en esta ciudad.
