The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends avoiding non-essential travels between Mexico and the United States
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, calls on all Mexican nationals and foreign travelers to avoid or to postpone international non-essential travel to and from Mexico. This measure is meant to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the health of the population in the border states.
In response to the global and regional health situation, since March 20th, the governments of Mexico and the United States agreed to reduce border movement only to those travels considered essential and that could not be postponed. The coordinated implementation of this measure has prevented the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus across borders, while expediting travel for purposes other than tourism or recreation between the two countries. This has allowed Mexico and the United States to maintain a commercial exchange similar to that which existed prior to the pandemic, and it has been beneficial for economic activity and employment in both countries.
The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reassures its commitment to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly through a strong collaboration between the different authorities in the border region between Mexico and the United States.
