Requests will not be received if filled application form is not submitted at the beginning of the interview.

 

(Effective January 1st, 2024)

  • All foreigners, regardless of their nationality, are required to present a valid, not expired passport or travel document when entering Mexico (traveling by air, land or sea).
  • If you are a Permanent Resident of the following countries: Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and any of the countries of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their valid and unexpired Resident Card along with their passports. Both documents must be valid during your entire stay in Mexico. US travel document holders must present a US valid Permanent Resident when entering Mexico if they are nationals of the countries listed in the following link: http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/Paises_Visa
  • If you have a valid and unexpired visa of the following countries: Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and any of the countries of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes.   • If the US visa or stamps in your passport are expired but you have an official document or form proving your legal status in USA, you must apply for a Mexican visa at this Consulate. (Non-Lucrative) Visa for visitors without authorization for lucrative activities

This type of visa is for you if:

  • You are traveling to Mexico on vacations, transit, business, technical activities, artistic activities, scientific activities, sport activities, correspondent or journalist, ministers of religion.
  • You will be in Mexico for up to 180 days.
  • You don't have a work authorization.

Requirements:

  • Apply at this Consulate in person

  • Fill out the Application form, English or Español
  • Valid passport in original and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information, photograph of bearer and expiration date/extensions
  • Valid or expired US visa for multiple entries and one photocopy
  • Valid I-94 and one photocopy
  • I-20/J-1 or I-797A Form in original and one photocopy
  • One photo passport size, in color, no glasses
  • Original financial records (last three months of your bank account statements in US Dollars, last three months of pay stubs).
  • Curriculum Vitae (optional)
  • Employment letter specifying:
    • Applicant´s full name and nationality
    • Registration number of the company/organization, plus address, complete name and contact information of the company/organization
    • Work Position and salary of the applicant
  • If a company/organization in Mexico is sponsoring or inviting the foreign national, the applicant can submit an original invitation letter*. The invitation must have a letterhead, address and signed in ink. Scanned or pdf versions won´t be accepted.
  • Original Invitation Letter from the company/organization based in Mexico must be addressed to the Consulate of Mexico in McAllen requesting the visa and specifying:
    • Exact purpose or activity and length of time for the trip to Mexico
    • How your expenses will be covered
    • Applicant´s full name and nationality
    • Registration number of the company/organization, plus address, complete name and contact information of the company/organization
    • Specify commitment of shared responsibility with the applicant
    • Copy of ID of the person who signed the invitation letter
    • Last twelve months of company bank account statements.

If you can demonstrate that you are an international traveler, Mexican citizen´s spouse or international freight cargo driver ask for the Long-Term Visitor Visa (Visa de Larga Duración, in Spanish).

NOTE:
To apply, minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by parents (or legal guardian) and to submit original and official documentation proving affiliation (relationship between parents and child) or legal status as a legal guardian. All documents from countries other than Mexico or the United States, must be translated to Spanish or English; currency equivalent in Mexican pesos or US dollars and with the appropriate legalization or apostille.

(Lucrative) Visa for visitors with authorization for lucrative activities 

  • If the purpose of entering into Mexico is working there and you will receive a salary or payment (lucrative activities), you will have to apply for a prior authorization to the National Immigration Institute in Mexico. In that case, you will receive an authorization number (NUT number).
  • As soon as the NUT authorization has been issued you must be in contact with this Consulate in order to schedule one appointment and to process a visa. Once you make the appointment you only will have 10 days for the interview and the issuance of your visa.

Visa for the purpose of adoption

This type of visa is for you if:

  • You are traveling to Mexico in order to complete the legal process to adopt a child
  • You have received a report to be matched with a child (informe de adoptabilidad o pre-asignación) Issued by the “State System for the Full Development of the Family” (Sistema Nacional para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia, -DIF-)

Requirements:

  • Report to be matched with a child (informe de adoptabilidad o pre-asignación) Issued by the “State System for the Full Development of the Family” (Sistema Nacional para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia - DIF). Original and 1 copy
  • Letter of acceptance and that you will continue processing a child´s adoption (issued by the Central Authority in Mexico). Original and 1 copy
  • Consular fee (USD $53.00)

Visa for Temporary Residents

This type of visa is for you if:

  • You are traveling to Mexico for retirement, investments, professional activities, technical activities, artistic activities, scientific activities, and sport activities or as a minister of religion
  • You will be in Mexico more than 180 days
  • You don't have a work authorization

Requirements:

  • Apply at this Consulate in person

  • Fill out the Application form, English or Español
  • Valid passport in original and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information, photograph of bearer and expiration date/extensions
  • Valid US visa for multiple entries and one photocopy
  • One photo passport size, no glasses
  • Original and a photocopy of financial records (last twelve months of your bank account statements in US Dollars; last twelve months of pay stubs; employment letter specifying your position and salary. You can also submit official documents proving the ownership of a property/company/business and one photocopy. If you have a retirement pension, bring the original yearly social security statement and one photocopy.
  • If a company/organization/association in Mexico is sponsoring or inviting the foreign national, the applicant can submit an original invitation letter*. The invitation must have a letterhead, address and signed in ink. Scanned or pdf versions won’t be accepted. Ministers of religion should submit original letter of “anuencia” (consent) of the Ministry of the Interior (Secretaría de Gobernación) from Mexico.
  • Consular fee

* Invitation Letter 

  • Original Invitation Letter from the company/organization/association based in Mexico must be addressed to the Consulate of Mexico in McAllen requesting the visa and specifying:
    • Exact purpose or activity and length of time for the trip to Mexico

    • Applicant´s full name and nationality
    • Registration number of the company/organization, plus address, complete name and contact information of the company/organization

Temporary Resident students

This type of visa is for you if:

  • You are traveling to study in Mexico
  • You don't have a work authorization

Requirements: 

  • Apply at this Consulate in person

Others

The letter must be issued with letterhead; address and signature in ink of institution Representative and a copy of the ID of the person who signed the letter.

    • Economic Solvency

      • Original and copy of bank account statement or investments showing an average monthly balance of $5,180 US Dollars during the past three months; or
      • Original and copy of documents showing that the applicant has a job, pension or scholarship with a monthly income of $520 US Dollars during the past three months
      • If Sponsored by parents or legal guardian (only for students under 25 years old):
        • Original Notarized Letter from parents stating that they will be sending their son or daughter the amount of, at least 520.00 US dollars per month, besides tuition (Affidavit of support)
        • ID copy of parents (valid passports) and Applicant’s birth certificate (original and copy)
        • Proof of economic solvency, including last three months of bank account statements showing an average monthly balance of $5,180 US Dollars during the past three months or original Employment Letter stating position and salary per month with a monthly income of $520 US Dollars
  • Consular fee

Permanent Residents

This type of visa is for you if:

  • You are moving to Mexico to be there indefinitely
  • You don´t have a work authorization
  • You are retired

Requirements: 

  • Apply at this Consulate in person

  • One photo passport size, in color, no glasses
  • Economic Solvency:
    • Original and photocopy of last twelve months of your bank account statements or investment account showing an average monthly balance of $103,524.00 US Dollars; and/or
    • Original Yearly Social Security Statement proving a monthly income from pension of $2,590 US Dollars during the past six months, and one photocopy. You can also submit official documents proving the ownership of a property/company/business and one photocopy.
  • Consular fee

Diplomatic or Official Visa

Requirements:
