The Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows up on the homicide of a Mexican citizen in Florida
Yesterday, an altercation took place in the town of Immokalee. Officers from the Sheriff's Office of Collier County, Florida attended to the situation. Unfortunately, the interaction between the officers and the national ended in the murder of the Mexican citizen.
The Consulate General of Mexico in Miami timely follows up on the situation and has asked the authorities for information. Based on said information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take the corresponding diplomatic and legal measures in defense of the Mexican national.
Consular personnel have also contacted the relatives of the deceased to provide them with legal and consular assistance, as well as the option of repatriating the remains of the national to Mexican territory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deeply regrets the death of the Mexican national and reiterates that the protection of Mexican citizens abroad, particularly of our communities in the United States, is the highest priority of our diplomacy.
