The traditional Mexican national holiday will feature an artistic program produced by local organizations, which includes music and folklore from different regions of Mexico to honor the cultural diversity of our country, including the Mexican regional music singer Cynthia Bagué accompanied by the Mariachi Sol de Oro, Rockenes Band, “El salsero mexicano” Jimmy Rodríguez, the Ballet Folkloric Azteca and the Mexican cultural group Ameyal, in addition to a wide array of gastronomic displays to promote local businesses that offer an extensive variety of delicious dishes.
During the celebration, we hold the “Grito” ceremony, where we remember the names of the heroes who started the Independence movement and together with great emotion we will shout: ¡Viva México!
Likewise, the “Ohtli” award (Ohtli means “open the way”in the Nahuatl; an indigenous Mexican language) will be presented, which will highlight the work of those who have sought the well-being of the Mexican community in the United States.
The celebration of the independence of Mexico is a meeting place for Mexicans beyond our borders, which promotes the pride and identity of who we are and reminds us of the values of freedom, justice and equality that we must continue to promote and strengthen among our migrant communities around the world.
