“ENRAIZADAS: MUJER Y MÉXICO”, ​​AN EXPRESSION OF IDENTITY AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

  • Mexico, guest country at the XI International Biennial of the World Textile Art Organization (WTA, World Textile Art Organization) that will take place from March 6 to 29, 2025, at the Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA).

 

In the framework of International Women's Day, the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami, through its Mexican Cultural Institute (MCI), presents “Enraizadas: Mujer y México”, an exhibition that highlights women in textile art, their ancestral identity and their sense of belonging.

 

The exhibition opens on Friday, March 7th at the MCI, and is part of the “XI WTA International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art” (WTA, World Textile Art Organization), in which Mexico is the guest country of honor in 2025 and will be represented through the outstanding work of the artists Agueda León, Adriana Zubikari, Carmen Guerrero Tejada, Elia del Carmen Morales, Miriam Medrez, Mónica Czukerberg, Sharon Berebichez, Sara Corenstein, Yosi Anaya and María Ortega, who present their vision of our country in relation to textiles art and female identity.

 

Enraizadas: Mujer y México” is a collaboration between the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami, its Cultural Institute and the WTA Biennial, curated by the International Curatorship, which inspires and promotes contemporary textile art by women, their contribution as agents of change and influences of socioeconomic and cultural development in Mexico, and which pursues to motivate the community to perceive those who work with textiles as true artists of international field.
