In 2019, Mexico became the first trading partner for the United States. Our bilateral trade with Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont adds up to over 9.6 billion USD, and our country ranks among the first trading partners for these 5 states.  Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was first signed, over 25 years ago, the bilateral trade between Mexico and the US has grown more than seven times, and trade between Mexico, Canada and the United States grew in this period approximately 390%.

In 2020, the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) ratified by Mexico’s and the United States’ Senates, has the potential to further deepen our commercial ties, and is already benefitting companies and workers in our countries through a renewed confidence in the terms of our relationship.
