Foreign retired residents, as well as immigrants (permanent residents) are entitled to take their hosehold effects into mexico. a list of such effects must be certified by the mexican consulate for customs in mexico. the requirements to be met are the following:
· Applicants: 1- family head or 2- women (divorced or widow) come to the consulate with their respective certificate.
· Temporary or permanent resident card (inmigrante or inmigrado) issued in your name, issue by the ministry of the interior of mexico or any mexican consulate, during the previous six months and 4 copies.
· Valid passport and 4 (four) copies of data page.
· A typed list of household effects, “in spanish”, accompanied by 4 additional photocopies, listing all items to be imported. brand, model and serial numbers must be stated when listing electrical appliances. the first page must state your name and complete address in the United States and in Mexico.
· Pay the consular fee of $190.00 u.s. dollars.
An import of household effects is a document that allows you to move your belongings into mexico.
Applications are received from 9:00 to 12:00 Monday through Friday.
*Important: The import of household effect does not include the following: Cars, trucks, motorcycles, food, species, alcohol beverages, medicines, weapons or explosives
