TOURIST FORM UP TO 180 DAYS

Passport holders of this country, wishing to travel to Mexico on holidays, are exempted of visa and can be allowed to stay in the country up to 180 days.

To enter the country visitors must fulfil the following requirements:

• A valid Passport at the time of the intended date of entry to Mexico.
• Immigration authorities may request additional information such as: main destination, hotel accommodation, return ticket, proof of financial means (international credit cards, debit cards or traveller's cheques).

Note: Visitors must obtain a landing card (FMM form) from the airline or at any port of entry in Mexico and complete this form with his/her individual information. The immigration officer will stamp the FMM card upon arrival. PLEASE KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE AND DO NOT LOSE IT. YOU WILL BE ASKED FOR THIS DOCUMENT AT YOUR DEPARTURE FROM MEXICO. The Mexican migratory authorities have the faculty to grant or deny the entry into Mexico if the visitor does not fully comply with the migratory regulations.

BUSINESS VISITOR

Nationals of this country can apply for a Non Immigrant Business Visitor Carnet (FM3) to attend business meetings, promote sales, visit associates, formalize contract arrangements, carry out market research, seek representatives, purchase goods for export, or investments purposes in México, which can be valid up for to one year. They must appear at the Consular Section at opening hours. Some foreign nationals can enter Mexico exempted of business visitor carnet (FM3) for a period up to 180 days and for multiple entries. Check the list of countries.

Requirements to apply for an Non Immigran Business Visitor Carnet:

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.

2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.

3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.

4. Original letter from employer stating who is financially responsible for applicant’s expenses and salary, the specific nature of the business to be performed, and the name and address of the companies to be visited.

5. Letter from the company established in México to be visited, explaining the purpose of the visit, the London Representative Office of the Mexican Trade Commission or the Mexican Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE).

6. Payment of consular fees via bank transfer to the Mexican Consulate on the day of the appointment.

Processing time: Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Notes:

• Some foreign nationals can enter Mexico exempted of business visitor carnet for a period up to 180 days and for multiple entries. Check the list of countries.
• This office can require additional documents, e.g. pay slips, applicant bank statements proving transfer of salary, documents related with official registration of companies. Copies of these documents are required.
• Nationals who are not from the United Kingdom, the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) listed below or Switzerland must prove they have permanent residence in the United Kingdom or work permit for the company which is financially responsible for theirs expenses and salary. In these cases, a photocopy of the British visa is required.
• Business visitor are not allowed to be engaged in profitable activities, employment or work of any kind.

Vaccinations against cholera and yellow fever are required by the Mexican Immigration Office when infected areas have been visited within two weeks before entry into Mexico.

Nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA)

Nationals of the countries marked with a "*" need to prove they are registered under the UK Worker Registration Scheme or they have a UK residence permit.

COOPERATIVE VISITOR

"An VISA carnet as non-immigrant cooperative visitor is issued to foreign nationals visiting Mexico within the framework of a cooperation programme between a Mexican or foreign institution located in Mexico and a foreign institution. In order that this Consular Section can issue this migratory document, it is requested the authorisation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the General Direction of Protection and Consular Affairs (DGPAC) in Mexico."

Once this office receives the authorisation from the DGPAC, the foreign national must appear at the Consular Section at opening hours and fulfil the following requirements:

1.- Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.

2.- Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.

3.-Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.

4.- There is NO consular fee.

Processing time: Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner, once the Consular Section has received the authorisation from the DGPAC.

Procedure to request the entry to Mexico of a foreign national as a non-immigrant cooperative visitor

The Mexican or foreign institution sited in Mexico must contact the General Direction of Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to apply for the VISA carnet as non-immigrant visitor in a cooperation programme) on behalf of the foreign national.

Please be aware that the General Direction of Scientific and Technical Cooperation in order to agree for approval of an application within the modality of cooperation would require the following documents:

Photocopy of the visitor’s passport pages where appear his/her personal details and photograph;

Document subscribed by the foreign institution that has an agreement for cooperation, in which it states the purpose of the visit of the visitor, his/her intended date of entry and length of stay, and the Mexican institution where the activities related with an agreement of cooperation will be held.

Document proving the skills and qualifications of the visitor.

Visitor in a cooperation programme is identified as an individual or moral person executing activities agreed by Mexico with countries or intergovernmental organisms to carry out a specific project without lucrative purposes, which will have an impact in the development of Mexico or in its international relations, within the framework of agreements, or bilateral or multilateral inter-governmental programmes of international cooperation for development.

Visitors must coordinate with the Mexican or foreign receptor institutions located in Mexico to prepare theirs programme of activities and define their period of stay. Individuals or moral persons providing or offering services to individuals, or Mexican or foreign associations who receive any kind of monetary payment from the receptors of the services are not to be considered visitors in a cooperation programme.

TECHNICAL VISITOR

"Nationals of this country can apply for a Non immigrant Technical visitor carnet if they intend to perform in México any of the following activities: the beginning or execution of a investment project, to give technical or professional advice to public or private institutions, lectures, courses or training of staff, to perform an audit, repair or install machinery and software, to design or start the operation of a plant agreed previously on contracts, or to give services agreed on transfer’s contracts of technology, patents or marks. The carnet can be valid up to one year. They must apply in person at the Consular Section at opening hours."

Requirements:

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.
2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.
3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.
4. Original letter from the enterprise where the applicant works, stating his or her technical ability, and that he or she is going to perform activities under enterprise’s contract and is not going to receive any salary from the Mexican enterprise or institution.
5. Letter from the Mexican institution requesting the professional services, stating the name of the prospective visitor, purpose of the visit and the length of stay.
6. Payment of consular fees via bank transfer to the Mexican Consulate on the day of the appointment.

Processing time: Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Notes:

• Non British nationals must prove they have their work visa for the company which is financially responsible for theirs expenses and salary. In certain cases it can be required to prove they have their permanent residence in the United Kingdom.
• 
  This office may require additional documents, e.g. pay slips, applicants bank statements, documents related with official registration of companies, contracts among companies. Copies of these documents are required.
• 
  When the technical visitor receives salary in Mexico, the Mexican company must request the proper visa for her or him before the National Institute of Immigration in Mexico. Work permit for Mexico.

VISITOR FOR ENROLLMENT IN A UNIVERSITY OR HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

"Nationals of this country can apply for a non immigrant visitor carnet for the sole purpose of taking an examination in order to be admitted or registered at a university or higher education institution, which can be valid up to 90 days. Applicants must apply in person at the Consular Section at opening hours."

Requirements:

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.

2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.

3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.

4. Letter from one Mexican university or higher education institution expressing that the applicant must take an examination in order to be admitted or do the formal enrollment in a university course.

5. Proof of financial means:

a) original work letter expressing salary and period of time being working at the company or institution, or one letter from the person who support you economically if you are a family dependent and proof of being family dependent (certificate of birth or certificate of marriage, and photocopies of the passport pages where are found personal details and holder's photograph of the person who support you economically), and

b) original and a photocopy of the last three work payment receipts, or of the last three current account statements, or of the last three saving account statements, or of the last three international credit card statements from the applicant or from the person who support you economically if you are a family dependent.

6. Proof of being permanent resident in the United Kingdom. A photocopy of the British visa is required. Photocopy of visa to other country in the American continent (if applicable)

7. Payment of consular fees via bank transfer to the Mexican Consulate on the day of the appointment.

Processing time: Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Notes:

• The visitor carnet on this category do not allow to be engaged in activities on a profitable trip, employment or work of any kind.
• Vaccinations against cholera and yellow fever are required by the Mexican Immigration Office when infected areas have been visited within two weeks before entry into México.
• If the visitor entering to México in this category wish to remain in the country more than the 90 days, he or she must change his/her migratory status before the mentioned period expires.

CORRESPONDENT TO COVER AN SPECIAL EVENT

"A non immigrant correspondent carnet to cover an special event, which can be valid up to 90 days, can be granted to journalists accredited by the Mexican government or any intergovernmental organisation, e.g., United Nations, Organisation of American States, World Trade Organisation, World Health Organisation to cover any conference or meeting taking place in Mexico. They must appear at the Consular Section at opening hours."

Requirements:

• Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.
• Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.
• Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.
• Proof of being journalist of the Media and that as a correspondent he or she will be in Mexico to cover any special event:
• Proof of being accredited before the body which organises the special event.
• There is NO consular fee.

STUDENT VISITOR
"Nationals of this country wishing to study in Mexico can apply for a non immigrant student carnet, which can be valid up to one year. Students cannot work or engage in any remunerative or lucrative activity unless an internship forms part of the study program. Applicants must apply in person at the Consular Section at opening hours."

Requirements

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.

2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.

3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.

4. Letter of enrolment in a Mexican educational institution that has official recognition.

5. Proof of financial means: letter from grant body, financial institution or sponsor (parents or guardian) indicating full financial support during the period of study ( minimum USD$ 500.00 per month); or the last three bank statements with a copy. In cases of sponsors (parents or guardian), theirs last three bank statements with a copy are required.

6. There is no consular fee.

7. Applicant should be 18 years old or older.

Processing time: Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Notes

• Vaccinations against cholera and yellow fever are required by the Mexican Immigration Office when infected areas have been visited within two weeks before entry into Mexico.
• Within 30 days of arrival in Mexico the student must register at the National Registry of Foreign Citizens, of the National Institute of Immigration (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior in México city. To be registered outside of México City, the regional offices of the Ministry of the Interior need to be contacted. The student must consider that she or he may need six (6) frontal (5) right profile photographs, 2"x 2", white background, no eye glasses for her o his registration.

INTERNSHIP VISITOR

"Nationals of this country wishing to perform professional practices in a company or enterprise in Mexico can apply for a non immigrant internship carnet , which can be valid up to six months. The professional practices must form part of the University or Higher Education Institute Studies Programme or the applicant must have recently obtained her or his degree. They must apply in person at the Consular Section at opening hours."

Requirements

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.

2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended to fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.

3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.

4. Head letter paper of the company in Mexico which will be responsible of the applicant, stating the place where she or he will perform her/his professional practices, activities that she or he will perform and the duration of the internship. Proof of financial means: letter from the company or institution sponsoring the applicant.

5.- Letter of the University or Higher Education Institution authorising the professional practices of the student. If applicable, recent Bachelor degree certificate with a copy.

6. Payment of consular fees via bank transfer to the Mexican Consulate on the day of the appointment.

Processing time. Two working days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Visitor to perform non lucrative activities

"Foreign nationals entering Mexico to perform either lucrative or non-lucrative activities, which are not considered on the migration categories issued by this Consular Section, requires an entry permit authorised by the National Institute of Immigration (INM). Within this context, Human Rights Observer, scientific and technical activities, or sport activities that contemplate the execution of the former require an entry permit from the INM in order this consular office can issue the visa. Potholers or cavers entering Mexico to perform the aforementioned activities request an entry permit issued by the INM."

In the case of visitors entering Mexico to perform non-lucrative activities, the visa can be obtained on the following manners:

A. Requirements at this Consular office: Foreign nationals can apply provided that they have their permanent residence in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As it is not required to make an appointment, applicants must appear at the consular section at opening hours.

1. Passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found.
2. Visa application and FM1 forms, duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version.
3. Two recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and one right profile photograph, without glasses, uncovered head and white background.
4. Proof of financial means:

a) Original work letter expressing salary and period of time being working at the company or institution, or one letter from the person who support you economically if you are a family dependent and proof of being family dependent (certificate of birth or certificate of marriage, and photocopies of the passport pages where are found personal details and holder's photograph of the person who support you economically), and

b) Original and a photocopy of the last three work payment receipts, or of the last three current account statements, or of the last three saving account statements, or of the last three international credit card statements from the applicant or from the person who support you economically if you are a family dependent.

5. A letter stating the purpose of the visit, intended date of entry, length of stay, places to be visited and itinerary.

6. Letter of the UK sponsoring organisation stating the purpose of the foreign national's trip, and letter of invitation from the Mexican institution stating the name of the foreign national, purpose of the visit and length of stay. If applicable.

7. Payment of consular fees via bank transfer to the Mexican Consulate on the day of the appointment.

Processing time: From three to four days after handing in the aforementioned documentation, in a complete and satisfactory manner.

Nota Bene: Do not buy flight tickets until you are notified by the Mexican Consular Section that you can submit your passport in order that the visa be issued and, pay of consular fees It takes two working days to issue either the visa.

B. Application before the National Institute of Immigration

The Mexican institution must apply for the foreign national entry permit at the National Institute of Immigration (INM) in Mexico. This authority will send the entry permit to this consulate in order that the FM3/visa to be issued. Useful information about requirements and offices addresses of the INM can be found on www.inm.gob.mx

Once the Consular Section receives the entry permit directly from the National Institute of Immigration, (INM) the foreign national must appear at the Consulate Section and hand in his/her a) passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry with photocopies of the pages where the personal details and holder's photograph are found, b) Application visa and FM1 form (when applying for an VISA), duly completed. It is recommended you fill up the FM1 in Microsoft Word version, three recent (less than 30 days as of the date of application) equal passport size frontal photographs and two right profile photographs, without glasses, uncovered head and white background (when applying an VISA), d) original and a copy of return airline ticket or onward ticket and payment of consular fees.

Processing time: It takes two working days to issue the visa .

If this office has not received the entry permit from the INM, it is recommended that the foreign national does not buy flight tickets.

In case of any error on the entry permit, the Mexican party must apply for its correction at the INM and requests a new entry permit be sent to the Consular Section.

Visitor to perform lucrative activities in Mexico

"In the case of visitors entering Mexico to perform lucrative activities, the application for the entry permit is made directly before the National Institute of Immigration by the Mexican party interested in the visit of the foreign national. Foreign artists hired to perform presentations in Mexico as well as foreign nationals hired to work in Mexico request an entry permit from the INM".

This authority will send the entry permit to this consulate in order that the visa to be issued. Useful information about requirements and offices addresses of the INM can be found on www.inm.gob.mx

If this office has not received the entry permit from the INM, it is recommended that the foreign national does not buy flight tickets.
