Mexico Advocacy Day

 The Consulate General of Mexico is pleased to announce the first “Mexico Advocacy Day” on its first edition on May 12, 2010.

 Description:

• Organization of a day of promotion of Mexico in the California Legislature about a specific topic per year, with the experts' participation of the public, private and civil society both of Mexico and of the United States. 

• In its first edition, on May 12, 2010, the topic will be the Border Crossing Facilitation & Disaster Coordination for which the following issues will be discussed:

- The reduction of times of waiting at the ports of entry

- Progress of the Port of Entry Otay II

- Efforts to provide with more ports of entry

- Emergency handling on a bilateral way.

Mission:

• Increase the importance of the relation of Mexico with the United States and the State of California, by raising awareness on issues of common interest and providing a platform for the dialogue and understanding.

Objectives:

• To encourage the creation of bonds with State Legislators of California, officials of the State government, advisers of public policy and groups of interest involved in policy formulation and decision making process at state level.

• Expanding the portfolio of issues of bilateral interest and identifying common ground to articulate opportunities for bolstering common economic growth and prosperity.
