No. 014

The Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento is pleased to announce two events of long standing tradition in Sacramento: the beauty pageant Reina de las Fiestas Patrias, next September 10, 2010, and the Annual Gala Dinner Dance 2010, on September 11, 2010.

These events are part of the celebrations commemorating the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution.

The Reina de las Fiestas Patrias pageant will be held at the Crest Theatre, located at 1013 K Street in Downtown Sacramento, at 5:00 pm

On the other hand, the Annual Gala Dinner Dance 2010, organized by the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located at 1209 L Street, also in Downtown Sacramento.

Both events represent excellent opportunities to share nice moments as well as cultural traditions that bind us and make us feel proud of our origins.

This year has great significance for all us Mexicans, for the descendants of Mexicans, and Mexico´s friends who would like to share and be a part of our joy for this 200 year history of the Mexican nation; a history of values and traditions that promote social harmony, which strengthen us, identify ourselves with each other, and bring us closer.

In the multilateral forums, Mexico has been more active on global issues such as international security and sustainable development. It has also made efforts to effectively defend the rights of Mexicans abroad and to improve their standard of living.
