United States citizens and foreigners who are permanent residents (green card holders) or with a valid visa stamped on their passports, do not require a visa to travel to Mexico on tourism or non paid activities and stay up to 180 days.
United States citizens will only carry their valid passports and foreigners should bear their valid passports, valid US visa or green card. Everybody will receive migration and customs forms and should be filled out during the flight or at the point on entry.
Anybody who does not meet the aforementioned criteria should ask about their situation and if necessary, will require a visa. If that is the case, you may arrange an appointment through the website: citas.sre.gob.mx.
Please consider that all requests require an interview regardless of the type of visa being requested and the result is decisive in the issuance of the visa. If you are granted a Mexican visa you will be able to travel to Mexico but it does not guarantee entry into the country.
Please note that starting January 1st, 2023 the consulate will charge a non-refundable fee of $53.00 per visa application regardless of approval.
