General Information

All foreigners, regardless of their nationality, are required to present a valid and unexpired passport when entering to Mexico.

If you are a Permanent Resident of the following countries: Canada, United States, Japan, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or any of the countries of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their valid and unexpired Resident Card along with their passports. Both documents must remain valid during the entire stay in Mexico.

US travel document holders must present a US valid Permanent Resident Card when entering Mexico if they are nationals of the countries listed in the following link: http://www.inm.gob.mx/gobmx/word/index.php/paises-requieren-visa-para-mexico/

If you have a valid and unexpired visa of the United States, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All individuals in this category are required to present their valid and unexpired visa along with their passports. Both documents must remain valid during your entire stay in Mexico.

If the US visa stamped in your passport is expired but you have an official document proving your regular status in the USA, you can apply for a Mexican visa at any Mexican Consulate. EAD cards, I-797 A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 or DS-2019 are not accepted to enter to Mexico without a visa.

If you are granted a Mexican visa you will be able to travel to Mexico.
Nevertheless, the entry into Mexico will depend on the Mexican Immigration authorities at the port of entry.

Be advised that the time and process to obtain a Mexican visa may vary. The Consulate does not guarantee the issuance of the visa, and its expedition the same day you come. If you are coming to San Antonio for the sole purpose of obtaining the Mexican visa, we encourage you to plan a minimum stay of one to three days.
