CONSULATE GENERAL OF MEXICO PRESENTS CASA MEXICO AT COMIC CON

From July 21-24, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego will present for the very first time Casa Mexico at Comic Con to celebrate and showcase some of the most iconic and emblematic features of Mexican pop culture through presentations, exhibitions, live music, and a taste of our world renowned gastronomy.

Located in the popular Seaport Village area of San Diego Bay, Casa Mexico at Comic Con is focused on Lucha Libre, Mexican freestyle wrestling, as well as a special exhibition by Mexican cartoonist “Trino” (José Trinidad Camacho Orozco).

“Our hospitality suite in Seaport Village aims to become a true cultural powerhouse that promotes a dynamic image of Mexico, featuring the states of Yucatan and Baja California, as two of our main tourism destinations, from Peninsula to Peninsula”, said Carlos González Gutiérrez, Consul General of Mexico.

On July 22 at 2:30 p.m, in Room 24 ABC of the San Diego Convention Center Trino will host the conference Viva Nuestra Desgracia - Viva México (Long live our Misfortune, Long live México), for which Comic Con badges are needed, and likewise on July 25 at 6:00 p.m. (free entrance), at the Coronado Public Library (640 Orange Avenue, Coronado, 92118).

The San Diego Comic-Con international convention, to take place from July 21- 24, 2022, is focused on comics as a popular element of the entertainment industry and pop culture, encompassing comic strips, iconic characters, movies, television shows and video games. It offers public presentations, conferences and exhibitions both at the San Diego Convention Center & Comic Con Museum in Balboa Park.

Casa Mexico at Comic Com will comprise many music performances, ranging from contemporary to traditional, including folkloric ballet from Baja California, OMEGA orchestra, Dance Zone, San Diego Opera singers and Pepe Mogt from Nortec Collective, among many others. Taking into account the massive interest it generates among county residents, media and tourists (more than 135,000 participants from 30 countries, in four days), Comic-Con represents an ideal opportunity to attract a greater number of international visitors to Mexico, which in 2021 was the second most visited country worldwide.
