THE CITY OF DURANGO IS SHOWCASED AT THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF MEXICO IN SAN DIEGO

As part of the tourism promotion initiative "Bridge to Mexico", on Saturday, March 9, the city of Durango, with its iconic Cathedral, Guadiana Park, Plaza IV Centenario, and famous colonial architecture, will be showcased at the Consulate General of Mexico.

Puente a México represents an open invitation to all states of Mexico to take advantage of the facilities of the Consulate General, located in the tourist neighborhood of Little Italy, as an ideal platform to promote each month, during a weekend, its art, culture, gastronomy, services, and tourist destinations.

With key allies and partners such as Cross Border Xpress (CBX) and the Mexican airline Volaris, Puente a México will allow San Diego residents to discover the capital of Durango through a photographic exhibition, regional food samples, and tastings of typical drinks.

With the exclusive CBX pedestrian bridge connecting 41 destinations in Mexico, San Diego is considered the first gateway to California, one of the most attractive tourist markets worldwide.

On Saturday, Amb. Alicia Kerber Palma, Consul General of Mexico, and the Secretary of Tourism of Durango, Elisa Haro Ruiz, will inaugurate the “Bridge to Mexico-Durango” at 10:00 a.m., with free entry, where hundreds of passersby will be able to appreciate crafts, photographs, and tastings of gastronomy and typical drinks, with a schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"In accordance with our mission to promote tourism and build bridges between Mexico and San Diego County, we believe that this edition of our “Bridge to Mexico” program will allow more Californians to discover the city of Durango, with its impressive natural landscape – a key element for the filming of western movies in the Hollywood industry – supporting the adventure tourism segment", said the Mexican diplomatic representative.

Also, on March 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the city of Durango will have a space at the renowned Farmers’ Market in Little Italy to provide information about the best options for travelers, the direct flight offered by Volaris from the city of Tijuana and upcoming events this year.

"We are very excited to present our capital city to the Southern California market. The purpose is to showcase the wide variety of recreational activities such as hiking and mountain biking as part of nature tourism, among others," said the Mayor of Durango, José Antonio Ochoa Rodríguez.

For his part, the CEO of Cross Border Xpress, Jorge Goytortúa, explained: "For us, continuing to participate in this project is very significant because our cross-border bridge is the gateway to Mexico through the Tijuana International Airport (TIJ), having surpassed 20 million passengers."

Puente a México was officially inaugurated on June 25, 2022, and since then, it has featured the participation of the Mexican states of Baja California, Yucatán, Sonora, Nayarit, and the capital city of Durango.
