Cultural Immersion and Volunteer Program (PICV)

  • Summer program in Mexico for students of Mexican origin between the ages of 21 and 30

The Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego invites students of Mexican origin between 21 and 30 years old to participate in the Cultural Immersion and Volunteer Program (PICV, for its acronym in Spanish). This summer program will last 3 weeks, from June 16 to July 5.
The PICV offers an enriching cultural immersion experience in Mexico, aimed at students of Mexican descent spanning second, third, and/or fourth generations. Its objectives are to strengthen ties with the country of origin, promote cultural bonds, and provide volunteer work opportunities to support communities, emphasizing the regions from which most Mexican migrants come.

The first week will be dedicated to academic, cultural, and integration activities in Mexico City, followed by two weeks of volunteer work in communities in the participating states.

The Institute for Mexicans Abroad, in collaboration with partner institutions, state governments, and collaborating organizations, will provide:

  • Financial support for air travel to Mexico City;
  • Local transfers according to the PICV's work schedule;
  • Accommodation and meals in Mexico City; and
  • Accommodation and meals in the states where the activities will take place (adjusted according to the local budget).
