 Requirements

 1.Application for Household Goods Import Certificate.

2. Valid Passport (book passport) - original and 4 copies, for the first page (personal information).

3. Original Letter typed addressed to the Consulate General of Mexico requesting the service for Household Goods Import Certificate, date of travel, port of entry, and must include the current address in U.S. and the address where you will be living in Mexico. (4 copies).

4. Original Mexican Residence Card valid (Temporary or Permanent) or Mexican visa valid (Temporary or Permanent) and 4 copies. * Note: If you present your Visa as a proof of immigration status, keep in mind that your Resident Card will be required by the Customs authorities in order to release your shipment.

5. Present the household goods inventory (original and 4 copies). It must be in Spanish and type written with a detailed description of your household goods, the total amount, specify model and serial number for electronic devices, using the following format:

Note: It will be very useful to bring an electronic format containing the file of your request and inventory list (usb device) to the consular office, so that we are able to make modifications if necessary, without you having to visit the consular office again.

 

6.    Pay $127.00 US dollars. We only accept cash and Money Order.

 

Process:

Once you have all the required documents, the interested person must appear personally from Monday to Friday from 7:00am a 11:00am, only to deliver the established requirements. Your documents will be reviewed and in some cases, we may request additional documentation that can vary on the applicant’s personal situation. Once the documentation is approved, the Household Certificate will be delivered within two business days after the reception of documents.

Four your convenience, the interested person must personally come to the conclusion of the process by signing the four-fold Certificate of Housekeeping issued in their favor.

It is important to mention that the Household Request is subject to the study of the documents for approval and in some cases additional documentation may be requested.

Important to keep in mind: 

  • This household certificate allows you to bring into Mexico your household goods only when these items are imported no later than six months after your first entry.

 

  • Household goods include: furniture, books, clothes, electronic devices, art work (as long as these are not collection for exhibitions or galleries), etc. You cannot include firearms

 

  • A motor vehicle is not considered a household good.

 

  • You may import your household goods as a family only once.
