Dr. Roberto Dondisch, Consul of Mexico in Seattle, received the copies of the title "Oodles of Doodles” from Erica Sklar, Communications Director of Art with Heart. The Consulate will distribute the books to community organizations and hospitals in Washington and Alaska.
"The Consulate of Mexico appreciates the donation of these books by Art with Heart. We are delighted to collaborate in distributing this valuable tool for the emotional well-being of children and adolescents in our community, "Dondisch said.
Art with Heart is a non-profit organization dedicated to using creative expression as a healing modality for youth facing hardship. Since 2002, the organization has created healing, therapeutic books that bring together the best in therapy with world-class illustration to help children and teens in distress.
The book to be distributed, titled "Oodles of Doodles", is available in Spanish and was designed to give pediatric patients an emotional outlet through creative expression and humor. Based in principles of expressive art and narrative therapies, Oodles gives patients a much-needed sense of control, as well as a safe place to express their worries and fears.
