All consular procedures require an appointment

  1. This Consulate General only accepts visa applications of Chinese/foreign people that prove residence in Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, with no exceptions.
  2. Visitors must scan the visitor code placed before the elevators of Dawning Center's Tower A, and wait to be granted access.
  3. No companions will be allowed.

Foreigners whose travel purpose is to stay in Mexico for no more than 180 days performing any non-paid activity such as transit, tourism, business, studies, unpaid technical or scientific activities, do not need a Mexican visa in the following cases:

  • If they are nationals of a country included the following list: https://www.inm.gob.mx/gobmx/word/index.php/paises-no-requieren-visa-para-mexico/
  • If they are holders of a valid multiple entry visa of Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom or any of the Schengen Area countries. (Some airlines may require that the mentioned visas have been used at least once to enter the issuing country. If the visa has not been used, we suggest checking directly with the airline).
  • If they are holders of a permanent residence card of Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom or any of the Schengen Area countries or countries members of the Pacific Alliance.
  • If they are holders of an APEC (ABTC) card approved by Mexico.

Regardless of the document you present when traveling to Mexico, bear in mind that the admittance of foreigners into the country is the exclusive power of the personnel of the National Institute of Migration at the ports of entry. They may also determine a shorter permitted length of stay than the visa does, which they will indicate on the entry stamp on your passport.

*The visa issued at the consular office is a single-entry visa. Visa application procedure

The Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai only accepts visa applications of Chinese/foreign nationals that prove residence in Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, with no exceptions. People residing in other provinces must go to the Mexican office that corresponds to their place of residence (Embassy of Mexico in China (Beijing) o Consulate General of Mexico in Guangzhou). For non-Chinese citizens, residence is proven by the place of issue of the residence permit stamped in your passport.

The application is personal, and each person must submit their information on their own (send only one email per application). In the case of business trips/work visas, the requests must be sent from an official company email account (companies sending a group may send a single email with every applicant's information, from the official email address of a company representative). Requests made by intermediaries/agencies will not be processed.

Once you send all the required information, you will receive a confirmation email in response, within the next 5 working days (check your email’s spam folder).

Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

There is no fee for booking appointments. The Consulate General does not have any link with agencies that book appointments or help with visa applications. No agency can guarantee the authorization of any Mexican visa.

The issuance of the visa is subject to the fulfillment of all the requirements for the desired visa and the result of the consular interview.

b) Prepare the requirements according to the desired type of visa. Please check them thoroughly.
When attending your scheduled appointment bear in mind that the application will only be accepted if the documentation is complete. If it’s not, it will be necessary to schedule a new appointment.

c) Cover the corresponding fee, depending on the type of visa.
All processed visa applications are charged, regardless of whether the visa is approved or not. Payment is done in cash, at the Consulate, on the day of the appointment.

d) If the requirements are met and there is a favorable result on the consular interview, the visa will be issued in the following 10 working days after the interview.

Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

Notes:

  • The UMA is the unit of account, index, base, measure, or economic reference in pesos used to determine the payment amount for obligations and assumptions provided for in federal and state laws, as well as in the legal provisions emanating from all the above.
  • The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) has the exclusive authority to determine the UMA, which is updated annually.
  • For visa procedures at the Mexican Consulate General in Shanghai, the calculation in yuan of amounts based on the UMA may vary depending on the MXN-CNY exchange rate on the day of the consular interview.

Type 1

Visitor Visa without permission to carry out paid activities (180 days)

Applicable to foreigners who intend to enter Mexico as a visitor without carrying out any paid activities, for a period of up to 180 days (transit, tourism, business, studies or any other non-paid activity)

Requirements:

  1. Submit a double-sided printed application filled out completely with a black pen, without crossed-out words or stains. Download it here.
  2. Valid passport (original and one simple copy of the pages containing personal information)
  3. Valid proof of legal status in China (residency/entry) (original and one simple copy of each document)
  4. One color photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm). No glasses, with white background.
  5. Present the documents that corroborate at least one of the following options:

    a) Roots in the country where you have residence:

    1. Original and copy of the real estate deed duly registered in the name of the visa applicant for a minimum of two years and employment letter with a minimum of two years of service in the company. A Mainland China institution must issue all documents. The certificate of employment must be in original and contain the following:
      • Company letterhead
      • Date of issue
      • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
      • Work position
      • Monthly salary after tax
      • Original company stamp (no digital print)
      • Name, position and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
      • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the certificate of employment (passport), or

    2. Original and copy of the real estate deed duly registered in the name of the visa applicant for a minimum of two years and a document that proves ownership or participation in business issued by the competent authorities for a minimum of two years. All documents must be issued by a Mainland China institution.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    b) Economic solvency

    1. Employment letter for a minimum of one year, issued by an entity in Mainland China. The employment letter must be original (no copies) and contain the following:
      • Company Letterhead
      • Date of issue
      • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
      • Work position
      • Monthly salary after tax
      • Original company stamp (no digital print)
      • Name, position, and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
      • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the certificate of employment (passport)

        In addition, the applicant must submit the original and simple copy of bank statements of the account where the salary is received. After-tax monthly salary should be higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) in each of the three months before the application. The bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted, or

        Original and simple copy of pension certificate from a governmental institution and bank statements of the account where the pension is received. After-tax monthly pension deposit should be higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) in each of the three months before the application. The bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted, or

    2. Original and simple copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 680 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 32,000) in the last three months* (6 months are recommended). Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted, or

    3. Original and simple copy of university studies certificate and employment certificate, pension, or scholarship certificate (original) that includes a list of the income received for each of the three months before the application. The monthly salary, pension or scholarship should be higher than 130 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 6,500)  in each of the three months before the application.

      • The employment letter must be in original and contain the following:
        • Company letterhead
        • Date of issue
        • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
        • Work position
        • Monthly salary after tax
        • Original company stamp (no digital print)
        • Name, position, and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: Director, President, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
        • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the employment letter (passport)
      • The university studies certificate must be in original and contain the following:
        • University letterhead
        • Date of issue
        • Level, degree, and area of study of the applicant
        • Name, position and original signature of the person issuing the certificate
        • Original stamp of the university


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    c) Invitation from a public or private organization or institution located in Mexico

    Applicable if a Mexican company is paying all the travel expenses.

    1. Original of the responsive letter of a public or private institution, company or organization that invites the foreign person to participate in an unpaid activity or event in Mexico. The letter must contain the following information:
      • Institution, company, or organization letterhead
      • Full name and nationality of the applicant;
      • Name of the institution, company or organization, and their official registration number.
      • Objective of the inviting institution, company, or organization
      • Full address and contact details of the institution, company, or organization.
      • Information about the activity to be carried out or the project in which the foreign person will participate. The activity of the foreign person must be related to the purposes of the organization or institution that issued the invitation.
      • Estimated duration or approximate completion date of the activity to be carried out
      • The commitment of the organization, company or institution to take care of the maintenance/economic support of the foreign person during his/her stay in Mexico and his/her return to his/her country of origin or residence;
      • Simple copy of an official identification (with photo and signature) of the person who signs the letter

    2. To prove that the institution, company or organization has the resources (economic solvency) to fulfill the obligation of maintenance/economic support of the foreign person, submit original and copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 2,290 days using the UMA measurement system (MXN$259,090.60) during the last twelve months. The bank statements must be stamped by the bank.

      Public and private organizations and institutions, as well as those belonging to the Mexican National Educational System, do not require proof of economic solvency.

    3. Original and copy of a diploma or technical certificate to prove sufficient knowledge or experience to perform the travel purpose.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    g) Studies

    1. Original and copy of the acceptance letter (see template) from an institution belonging to the Mexican National Educational System to carry out courses, studies or research projects or academic or professional training for less than 180 days. The letter must contain the following information:
      • Letterhead
      • Full name and nationality of the applicant
      • Level, degree and area of study that the applicant intends to carry out
      • Name of the course or academic activity in which you have been accepted
      • Start and end date of the course or academic activity
      • Cost of registration for the course or academic activity
      • Identification data and official registration of the educational institution

    2. Financial means to cover the amount of tuition and accommodation and maintenance expenses during your stay in Mexico. The Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted. You may present:
      • Original bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 340 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 16,000) during the last three months, or

      • Original and simple copy of the documents that show that you have a job, pension, or scholarship and bank statements with a monthly net income higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) during the last three months. It is required to present an original employment letter or original letter from the institution granting the pension or scholarship and the original bank statements of the account where the income is deposited monthly.

        Solvency may be accredited by the applicant, by his/her parents, by his/her spouse, concubine, or equivalent figure; or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship. In the case of pension or scholarship, a letter from the educational institution that proves that they have been the beneficiary of a scholarship or document from a banking or financial institution that proves that they have the financing.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

  6. Payment of visa processing fee per the current Federal Fees Law (in 2025, the equivalent in yuan to USD$54.00). All payments are made by Alipay, on the day of the interview.

Important information for the visitor:

  • This visa does not allow paid activities.
  • The issuance of the visa is subject to the result of the consular interview.
  • Solvency requirements are calculated based on the Unidad de Medida y Actualización (UMA) - Unit of Measurement and Update System to the exchange rate of the day of the interview. Amounts shown are estimated and subject to change without previous notice.
  • According with the General guidelines for the issuance of visas issued by the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs, the consular office may request additional documents to determine the result of the visa application.
  • The visa may be used exclusively during the validity period, which begins with the date of its issuance and for the number of entries indicated.
  • Obtaining a Mexican visa does not guarantee entry into Mexican territory. Allowing the entry of foreign persons is the exclusive power of the personnel of the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) at the ports of entry. The period of stay allowed in Mexican territory will be determined by the immigration authority at the point of entry and may not exceed 180 days.
  • In the case of underage persons or people who are subject to legal guardianship under the terms of civil legislation, the visa application form must be signed by both parents or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship in the presence of the Consular officer or employee. If the father or mother does not physically appear at the consular office to obtain the visa for their minor child, a notarial authorization of the other parent must be presented stating consent to obtain a Mexican visa.
  • In the case of underage persons whose parental authority only corresponds to one of the parents by a court ruling, a certified copy of the official document that so determines must be presented. In the case of a document granted in a third country, it must be legalized or apostilled (as the case may be), with a translation if it was issued in a language other than Spanish.
  • In the case of underage persons that apply for visa on their own or with a third party of legal age, they must present a document granted before a notary public or by an authority that has the power to do so, stating the authorization of both parents or those who exercise parental authority or guardianship over them, so that a Mexican visa is processed and, where appropriate, issued.

Type 2

Visitor Visa without permission to carry out paid activities (10 years)

Applicable to foreigners with ample economic solvency; frequent travelers; prominent people; spouse of a Mexican national, temporary resident, or permanent resident; family member of a temporary resident or permanent resident; family member of a diplomatic or consular official accredited in Mexico; supervisors of a foreign company with a subsidiary in national territory; or executive personnel of subsidiaries or commercial offices of Mexican companies abroad who wish to enter Mexico as a visitor without permission to carry out paid activities and whose purpose is not to reside in national territory. The validity of the visa is for 10 years with multiple entries, with a stay of no more than 180 days after each entry (transit, tourism, business, studies, or any other non-paid activity).

Requirements:

  1. Submit a double-sided printed application filled out completely with a black pen, without crossed-out words or stains. Download it here.

  3. Valid proof of legal status in China (residency/entry) (original and one simple copy of each document)

  5. Present the documents that corroborate at least one of the following options:

    a) Economic solvency:

    1. Original and simple copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 680 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 32,000) in the last six months. Bank statements should be stamped by the bank. We only accept bank statements issued by a mainland China bank; or

    2. Original and simple copy of the documents that show that you have a job, pension, or scholarship with a monthly net income higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) during the last three months. It is required to present an original employment letter or original letter from the institution granting the pension and the original bank statements of the account where the income is deposited monthly.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    b) Frequent traveler:

    1. Simple copy of the pages of the applicant’s passport that show three valid visas or three entry seals in the last year, to countries that are not immediate neighbors of his/her country of residence.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    d) Relative of a Mexican national:

    1. Proof of family relationship. If the applicant is:
      • Spouse of a Mexican national: original and copy of marriage certificate or equivalent figure issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese, or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Child of a Mexican national: original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Parents of a Mexican national: original and copy of the son or daughter’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Sibling of a Mexican national (when the applicant is unmarried and under the legal representation of his/her Mexican sibling because he/she is underage or legally incompetent): original and copy of both the applicant and the Mexican sibling’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and

    2. Original and copy of the document that proves the Mexican nationality of the applicant’s relative.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    e) Relative of a foreigner with Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident Card

    1. If the applicant is:
      • Spouse of a foreigner that is in Mexico and has a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident card: original and copy of marriage or equivalent figure issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Child of a foreigner that is in Mexico and has a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident card: original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Parent of a foreigner that is in Mexico and has a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident Card: original and copy of the birth certificate of the son or daughter that is a Mexican Resident. If the documents were not issued in Mexico nor Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Sibling of a foreigner that is in Mexico and has a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident Card: (when the applicant is unmarried and under the legal representation of his/her Mexican sibling because he/she is underage or legally incompetent): original and copy of both the applicant and the Mexican sibling’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico nor Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and

    2. Copy of the Temporary or Permanent Resident Card of the foreigner that is in Mexico and with whom the applicant proves family ties.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

  6. Payment of visa processing fee in accordance with the current Federal Fees Law (in 2025, the equivalent in yuan to USD$53.00). All payments are made by Alipay, on the day of the interview.

Type 5

Temporary Resident Visa

Requirements:

  1. Submit a double-sided printed application filled out completely with a black pen, without crossed-out words or stains. Download it here.
  2. Valid passport (original and one simple copy of the pages containing personal information)
  3. Valid proof of legal status in China (residency/entry) (original and one simple copy of each document)
  4. One color photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm). No glasses, with a white background.
  5. Present the documents that corroborate at least one of the following options:

a) Economic solvency:

  1. Original and simple copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 11,460 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 515,000) on the last 12 months before the month of application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted; or

  2. Original and simple copy of documents that prove that you have a job in China and bank statements (issued in Mainland China only) that show a monthly salary higher than 680 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 32,000) in each of the six months before the application. The original employment letter must contain the following:
    • Company letterhead
    • Date of issue
    • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
    • Work position
    • Monthly salary after tax
    • Original company stamp (no digital print)
    • Name, position, and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
    • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the employment letter (passport)


Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

c) Invitation from an organization or a public or private institution

  1. Original of the responsive letter of an organization, company or a public or private institution that invites the foreign person to participate in some unpaid activity in Mexico. The letter must contain the following information:
    • Full name of the applicant and nationality;
    • Name or company name of the organization;
    • Official registration number, as appropriate;
    • Objective of the organization or private or public institution;
    • Full address and contact details of the organization or institution;
    • Information about the activity to be carried out or the project in which the foreign person will participate. The activity of the foreign person must be related to the purposes of the organization or institution that issues the invitation;
    • Estimated duration or approximate completion date of the activity to be carried out;
    • The statement of responsibility for living expenses of the foreign person during his/her stay in Mexico and his/her return to his/her country of origin or residence, and
    • Copy of official identification with signature and photograph of the person signing the responsive letter.

  2. To prove that it has the financial resources to comply with the responsibility for the living expenses of the foreign person during his/her stay in Mexico, as pointed out in the previous paragraph, the inviting private organization or institution will present an original and a copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance equivalent to 22,920 days using the UMA measurement system (MXN 2,593,168.80) in each of the last twelve months before the application.

    Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Education System do not require proof of economic solvency.

  3. The documents with which the foreign person certifies that he/she has the necessary experience, capacity, skills or knowledge to carry out the activity for which he/ is invited, in original and copy.

  4. If the inviting institution does not cover living expenses:
    • Original bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 11,460 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 515,000) in the last 12 months before the month of application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only statements issued by a mainland China bank are accepted, or
    • Employment letter issued by a Mainland China institution, stating that the applicant has at least six months employed by that institution. The employment letter must be in original and contain the following.
      • Company letterhead
      • Date of issue
      • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
      • Work position
      • Monthly salary after tax
      • Original company stamp (no digital print)
      • Name, position, and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
      • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the employment letter (passport)
    • In addition, the applicant must submit the original bank statements of the last three months of the account where the salary is received. After-tax monthly salary should be higher than 450 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 21,000) in each of the six months before the application. The bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted.


Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

e) Family reunification

  • When applying at a Consular Office, the applicant must be accompanied by their Mexican relative or their foreign relative with a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident Visa or Card.

    Relative of a foreigner holder of a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa

    1. If the applicant is:
      • Spouse of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa: original and copy of marriage certificate issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Parent of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa: original and copy of the birth certificate of the son or daughter that has the Temporary Resident Visa or Student Temporary Resident Visa. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Child of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa: when the applicant is underage and unmarried or legally incompetent and under the legal representation of the foreigner holder of the Temporary Resident Visa or Student Temporary Resident Visa, original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
      • Child of the spouse of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa: when the applicant is underage and unmarried or legally incompetent and under the legal representation of the spouse of a foreigner holder of a Temporary Resident Visa or a Student Temporary Resident Visa, original and copy of the birth certificate of the applicant and original and copy of marriage certificate issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and

    2. Original and copy of the Mexican Temporary Resident Visa or Mexican Student Temporary Resident Visa, and

    3. Prove economic solvency to pay the living expenses of each family member during their stay in Mexico:
      1. Original and simple copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) in the last 12 months before the application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted; or

      2. Original and simple copy of the documents that show that the applicant has a job or pension and bank statements with monthly income free of taxes greater than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) during the last six months before the application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted. The employment letter must be in original and contain the following:
        • Company letterhead
        • Date of issue
        • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
        • Work position
        • Monthly salary after tax
        • Original company stamp (no digital print)
        • Name, position and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)
        • Copy of signed ID of the person signing the employment letter (passport)


    Spouse of a foreigner holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Visa

    1. Original and simple copy of the marriage certificate issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and

    2. Original and copy of the Mexican Permanent Resident Visa, and

    3. Prove economic solvency to pay the living expenses of each family member during their stay in Mexico:
      • Original and copy of bank statements with average monthly balance higher than 100 days of minimum wage in Mexico (approx. CNY 11,500) in the last 12 months before the month of application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted; or

      • Original and simple copy of the documents that show that you have a job or pension and bank statements with monthly income free of taxes greater than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) during the last six months before the application. Only statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted. The employment letter must be in original and contain the following:
        • Company letterhead
        • Date of issue
        • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
        • Work position
        • Monthly salary after tax
        • Original company stamp (no digital print)
        • Name, position and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)

If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and

    2. Original and copy of the Mexican Temporary Resident Card or Mexican Student Temporary Resident Card, and

    3. If the applicant has family ties with a foreigner holder of a Mexican Student Temporary Resident Card: a certificate issued by the school stating that the foreigner holder of the Mexican Student Temporary Resident Card continues with his/her studies.

    Spouse of a foreigner holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Card

    1. Original and copy of the marriage certificate issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and
    2. Original and copy of the Mexican Permanent Resident Card.
    3. Spouse of a Mexican national.
    4. Original and copy of the marriage certificate issued by a competent authority under the applicable legislation of the country where the legal act was held. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; and
    5. Original and copy of the documents that prove the Mexican nationality.


    Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

f) Owner of Real Estate in Mexico:

  1. Original and copy of Public Deed granted before a Mexican Notary Public that certifies that the foreign person is the owner of real estate (property deed), with a value that exceeds 91,710 days using the UMA measurement system (MXN$10,376,069.40)

  • Payment of visa processing fee in accordance with the current Federal Fees Law (in 2025, the equivalent in yuan to USD$54.00). All payments are made by Alipay, on the day of the interview.

    • According with the General guidelines for the issuance of visas issued by the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs, the consular office may request additional documents to determine the result of the visa application.
    • The visa may be used exclusively during the validity period, which begins with the date of issuance, and for a single entry.
    • Holders of this type of visa will have up to 30 days from their arrival to Mexico, to exchange it for a Temporary Resident Card that allows them to remain legally in the country.
    • Residents who intend to carry out an unpaid or philanthropic activity related to the performance of a profession or that require special authorization, must comply with the provisions of the applicable legislation on the matter and obtain authorization from the competent Mexican authorities.
    • According to current regulations, foreigners who enter Mexico under this status must notify the immigration authority (INM) of any change in marital status, change of nationality, or the place where they establish their home or place of work, within ninety days after the change occurs.
    • In no case may the petitioner request a visa for more than one spouse even if the legislation of another country allows it, unless they provide documents issued by the competent authority of the dissolution of the previous marriage.
    • In the case of an application due to family reunion in a Consular Office, the applicant must be accompanied by their Mexican relative or their foreign relative with a Temporary or Permanent Resident Visa or Card.

    Type 6

    Temporary Student Resident Visa

    Requirements:

    1. Submit a double-sided printed application filled out completely with a black pen, without crossed-out words or stains. Download it here.
    2. Valid passport (original and one simple copy of the pages containing personal information)
    3. Valid proof of legal status in China (residency/entry) (original and one simple copy of each document)
    4. One color photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm). No glasses, with a white background.
    5. Present the following documents:
      1. Original letter of acceptance (see template) from an institution belonging to the National Educational System in which you intend to study, specifying:
        • Full name of the applicant;
        • Level, degree, and area of study that the applicant intends to carry out;
        • Name of the course in which you have been accepted;
        • Duration of the course (start and finish date);
        • Tuition cost for the course;
        • Identification data of the educational institution, and

      2. Economic solvency to cover the amount of the registration, lodging and maintenance expenses during your stay in Mexico, accredited by:
        • Original and copy of the documents that prove that you have a job, pension, or scholarship with a monthly income higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) in the last three months before the application. Bank statements of the account where the salary, pension or scholarship is received should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted; or

        • Original bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 2,290 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 105,000)  in the last three months before the application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. Only bank statements issued by a Mainland China bank are accepted.

          Solvency may be accredited individually by the applicant or by their parents or by whoever exercises parental authority or guardianship (if they are not older than 25 years of age) or with a letter from the educational institution proving that they have been the beneficiary of a scholarship, or document from a bank or financial institution that certifies that they have the required financing.

          Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

    Permanent Resident Visa

    Requirements:

    1. Submit a double-sided printed application filled out completely with a black pen, without crossed-out words or stains. Download it here.
    2. Valid passport (original and one simple copy of the pages containing personal information)
    3. Valid proof of legal status in China (residency/entry) (original and one simple copy of each document)
    4. One color photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm). No glasses, with a white background.
    5. Present the documents that corroborate at least one of the following options:

      a) Retirees or pensioners

      1. Original of Chinese documents that prove that you retired in China (issued by the government in Mainland China) and original Chinese bank statements (issued in Mainland China only) with an average monthly balance higher than 45,850 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 2,020,000) in each of the twelve months before the month of the application, or

      2. Original of Chinese documents that prove that you retired in China (issued by the government in Mainland China) and Chinese bank statements (issued in Mainland China only) where you receive a monthly pension higher than 1,140 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 53,000) in each of the six months before the month of the application.


      Applicants who present altered, fake or fraudulently obtained documents will be denied a visa and will be inscribed in the immigration control list (blacklist), rendering them unable to obtain a visa to enter Mexico in the future.

      b) Family reunification

      When applying at a Consular Office, the applicant must be accompanied by their Mexican relative or their foreign relative with a Mexican Temporary or Permanent Resident Visa or Card.

      Relative of a Mexican citizen

      1. If the applicant is:
        • Parent of a Mexican national: original and copy of the Mexican birth certificate of the Mexican child; or
        • Child of a Mexican national: when the applicant is underage and unmarried or legally incompetent and under the legal representation of the Mexican national, original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
        • Sibling of a Mexican national (when the applicant is unmarried and under the legal representation of his/her Mexican sibling because he/she is underage or legally incompetent): original and copy of both the applicant and the Mexican sibling’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese, or English), an official translation must be presented; and

      2. Original and copy of the document that proves the Mexican nationality of the applicant’s relative.

       

      Relative of a foreigner holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Visa

      1. If the applicant is:
        • Parent of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Visa: original and copy of the birth certificate of the son or daughter that has the Permanent Resident Visa. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
        • Child of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Visa: when the applicant is underage and unmarried or legally incompetent and under the legal representation of the foreigner holder of the Permanent Resident Visa, original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
        • Sibling of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Visa: (when the applicant is unmarried and under the legal representation of his/her Mexican sibling because he/she is underage or legally incompetent): original and copy of both the applicant and the sibling’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled. If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), the document must be translated; and

      2. Original and copy of the Mexican Permanent Resident Visa, and

      3. Prove economic solvency to pay the living expenses of each family member during their stay in Mexico:
        • Original and copy of bank statements with an average monthly balance higher than 220 days using the UMA measurement system (approx. CNY 10,600) in the last 12 months before the month of application. Bank statement should be stamped by the bank. We only accept bank statements issued by a mainland China bank; or

          • Time of employment by that company or date of hiring
          • Work position
          • Monthly salary after tax
          • Original company stamp (no digital print)
          • Name, position and original signature of the person responsible in the company for the dispatch (For example: director, president, legal representative, HR manager, etc.)

      Relative of a foreigner holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Card

If the documents are in a different language (not Spanish, Chinese or English), an official translation must be presented; or
        • Sibling of a foreigner that is holder of a Mexican Permanent Resident Card: (when the applicant is unmarried and under the legal representation of his/her Mexican sibling because he/she is underage or legally incompetent): original and copy of both the applicant and the sibling’s birth certificate. If the documents were not issued in Mexico or Mainland China, they must be legalized or apostilled.     Type 11

    Work permit Visa

    The Mexican company must apply for the visa at the National Migration Institute (Instituto Nacional de Migración - INM). The requirements can be checked here.

    INM will issue a document that authorizes the applicant to get a visa interview at a Mexican Consular Office (NUT), which does not mean that the visa is already granted. The issuance of the visa will depend on the applicant fulfilling the requirements as well as having a satisfactory visa interview.

    Once applicants have received said document, they must contact the Consulate General to schedule an appointment for consular interview within 30 days.

    Requirements:
