IMPORTANT NOTE:

 

The Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai informs that from January 1st 2017, all visa applications submitted will be charged, regardless of whether or not the visa is issued.

 

 

Foreigners whose travel purpose is to stay in Mexico for no more than 180 days performing any non-paid activity such as transit, tourism, business, studies, technical or scientific activities, transit, do not need Mexican visa in the following cases:

  • If they are nationals of a country included in this list.
  • If they are holders of a valid multiple entry visa of Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom or any of the Schengen Area countries.
  • If they are holders of a permanent residence card of Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom or any of the Schengen Area countries.
  • If they are holders of an APEC card approved by Mexico.

 

The following are requirements to obtain a visa to stay no more than 180 days in Mexico for transit tourism, business, studies or any other non paid activity.

 

  1. Log in to Mexitel System to schedule an appointment.
  2. Application (see attachment)
  3. Valid passport in original and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information, photograph of bearer and expiration date/extension.
  4. Valid proof of legal residence/entry in China and one photocopy of each document.
  5. One photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm), color, no glasses, white background.
  6. Payment of consular fee
  7. Original documents and copies to complete one of the following options:

 

  1. Signed and sealed employment letter specifying position and length of service (Minimum of 2 years of service), and original of property certificate, issued more than 2 years prior to the application on the applicant’s name.
  2. Signed and sealed employment letter specifying position, length of service and after tax salary, and the last three months* of bank statements of the account where salary is received. After tax monthly salary should be higher than approximately CNY 3 500 in the last three months.
  3. Original financial records with average monthly balance higher than approximately CNY 9500 in the last three months* (*6 months are recommended).
  4. University studies certificate and employment, pension or scholarship certificate that includes a list of the income received for each of the three months prior to the application. The monthly salary, pension or scholarship should be higher than approximately CNY 2 000.
  5. If a Mexican company is paying all the travel expenses: i) Invitation letter (see template); ii) diploma or technical certificate to prove sufficient knowledge or experience to perform the travel purpose; and iii) original and copy of the Mexican company’s bank statements showing an average monthly balance higher than MXN 102,860 in each of the twelve months prior to the application. The bank statements shall be sealed by the bank.
  6. (If the purpose of travel is studies) Acceptance letter (see template), and original financial records with average monthly balance higher than approximately CNY 4500.

The procedure to obtain a visa to work in México has two main steps:

1. The Mexican company must apply for the visa at the Instituto Nacional de Migración. The requirements can be found here.

2. After the INM authorizes the applicant to get an interview at a Mexican Consular Office, the applicant must log in to Mexitel System to schedule an appointment. The day of the appointment, the applicant must answer the interview questions and submit the following documents:

 

  • Application (see attachment)
  • Copy of the authorization of the Instituto Nacional de Migración to get an interview at a Mexican Consular Office.
  • Valid passport in original and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information.
  • One photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm), color, no glasses, white background.
  • Valid proof of legal residence/entry in China and one photocopy.
  • Payment of consular fee.

If the visa is authorized, it is usually issued in one working day after the day of the interview.

  2. Application (see attachment)
  3. Valid passport in original and one photocopy of the pages containing personal information.
  4. Valid proof of legal residence/entry in China and one photocopy.
  5. One photo (size 3.9 cm x 3.1 cm), color, no glasses, white background.
  6. Payment of consular fee
  7. Original and copy of the applicant’s birth certificate or marriage certificate.
  8. Original and copy of the Mexican resident visa.
  9. The Mexican resident visa holder shall present at least one of the following:
    1. Signed and sealed employment letter specifying position, length of service and after tax salary, andthe last three months of bank statements of the account where salary is received. After tax monthly salary should be higher than approximately CNY 3 500 in each of the six months prior to the month of the application.
    2. Original financial records with average monthly balance higher than approximately CNY 3500 in each of the twelve months prior to the month of the application.

The following are requirements to obtain a Household Goods List Certificate (Certificado a Lista de Menaje de Casa):

  1. Application (see attachment)
  2. Original and copy of passport or another valid official identification with photograph.
  3. Original and copy of visa or card of permanent or temporary residence in Mexico.
  4. Goods list in four copies, signed by the applicant in each sheet. The list must include a detailed description of the goods that the applicant will take to Mexico. Regarding electrical equipments, it is required to indicate brand, model and serial number.
  5. The equivalent in RMB to USD 127.00

Yes. Your representative must present:

  • The original of all requirements, including the original of your passport and signed goods lists (in quadruplicate).
  • A power of attorney letter directed to the Consulate General of Mexico in Shanghai that authorizes the representative to perform all needed actions to obtain a Certificado a Lista de Menaje de Casa on your behalf, with your signature and complete name, and the signatures and complete names of the representative and two witnesses.
  • Original of his/her official identification with photograph and signature.
  • Copies of the official identifications with photograph and signature of the witnesses.
