Mexico at the Hot & Spicy Festival

Mexico will have a significant presence at this year's Hot & Spicy Festival and international Iron Chef competition, taking place at the Harbourfront Centre from August 30 to September 2.

Thanks to support from the Consulate General, one of the four participants in the 10th annual Iron Chef competition will be Mexican chef Betty Vázquez, from Nayarit, who will go head to head with chefs from Canada, the United States and Ecuador.

The semi-final Iron Chef competition with Betty Vázquez, from Mexico, and Aaron Joseph Bear Robe, from Canada, will be held on September 1, from 4:30 to 5:30pm. The final will be held on September 2nd at 2pm (Brigantine Room).

Betty Vázquez was trained at Le Cordon Bleu, in Paris, and is executive chef at Riviera Nayarit restaurant.

At the Hot & Spicy Festival Chef Vázquez will also share her recipes for tacos and Mexican salsas in a cooking demonstration on Saturday August 31, from 1 to 2 pm (Lakeside Terrace).
