Presence of Mexico at Hot Docs
The Hot Docs documentary film festival has selected two Mexican films for its edition, which will present 205 documentaries from 43 countries in Toronto from April 25 to May 5.
1) "Eufrosina's Revolution" is about Eufrosina Cruz Mendoza, an indigenous Oaxacan woman and politician who fights for the rights of indigenous women. The director, Luciana Kaplan, will be present at the screenings thanks to support from the Consulate General of Mexico in Toronto. Screenings: May 1, 8:30pm, The Rom Theatre; May 3, 3:45pm, Scotiabank 3; May 5, 3:00pm, TIFF Bell Lightbox 4.
2)"The Convict Patient" describes the life of Carlos Castañeda de la Fuente, who tried to assassinate President Gustavo Díaz Ordaz. The director, Alejandro Solar Luna, will be present at the screenings of the documentary thanks to joint support from the festival and the Consulate in Toronto. Screenings: April 29, 9:15pm, TIFF Bell Lightbox 4; April 30, 1:00pm, Scotiabank 3.
