GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

Visa applications are only issued with an appointment, which must be made through the MiConsulado system (one appointment per person).

It is necessary for the appointment to be confirmed in the name of the person requiring the visa, even if it concerns a minor.

For the appointment, you must present both the original and copies of the required documents.

Please note that honorary consulates do not issue visas.

 

 

IMPORTANT:

Before scheduling an appointment, carefully read what type of visa you need to know what requirements you must meet on the day of your appointment. If you do not meet all the requirements, your application will be rejected, and you will need to request another appointment. If, when scheduling your appointment through the system, you cannot select the Frankfurt office, it means there are NO available appointments at that moment. PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT FOR ANY OTHER PROCEDURE AVAILABLE. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE ANY PROCEDURE.

  1. Meet the requirements to apply for the visa. All information is provided below in the "Visa Type" section (see below).

  2. Schedule your appointment through MiConsulado at: https://citas.sre.gob.mx/

  1. Appear in person at the consulate on the day of your appointment.

  2. Present all original and copy documents. At the end of the procedure, all originals will be returned.

  3. Provide biometric data (a photograph, fingerprints, and handwritten signature will be taken).

  4. The payment of the fees must be made in cash and with the exact amount at the time of the procedure.

BANK TRANSFERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

The copies presented should not be stapled. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment, as we will not be able to assist you after the scheduled time. No visits are allowed without an appointment, except in cases of verifiable emergency. Each case is examined individually. By instructions from the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of January 2017, visas will not be issued to holders of a Kosovar passport. Therefore, visa applications from Kosovar citizens will be rejected.

If a foreigner meets one of the following criteria, they do not need a visa to enter Mexico for travel, business, studies, or other non-paid activities for 180 days or less (6 months or less):

  • If they have a permanent residence permit in one of the Schengen Area countries, Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or one of the members of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, and Peru).
  • In Germany, their residence title must be issued as "UNBEFRISTET O NIEDERLASSUNGSERLAUBNIS."
  • They legally reside and hold a valid visa from one of the Schengen Area members, Canada, the United States of America, Japan, or the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • They have a certificate identifying them as a crew member of the arriving airplane.

Citizens of Russia, Turkey, or Ukraine who do not meet any of the above criteria can apply for a regular tourist visa or an electronic visa by clicking HERE.

Before using an Electronic Authorization (SAE) to enter Mexico, ensure that the airline you are flying with allows SAE. Your boarding will not be approved if the airline cannot validate your SAE at check-in for any reason.

The visa "Visitor without authorization to perform remunerated activities" is currently free for nationals of Bolivia, Guatemala, Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Serbia, and South Africa.

Travelers who do not meet any of the above criteria and whose nationality is on the list of countries requiring a visa need a visa to enter Mexico: List of countries requiring a visa HERE.

Exchange students (such as those from Rotary Club, AFS, etc.) must apply for a temporary student residence permit (see below for requirements).

 

 

TYPES OF VISA

 

 IMPORTANT

ALL Nationalities requiere a visa for stays longer than 180 days (more than 6 months).

Requirements:

  1. Form: The completed form, available in either Spanish or English.

  2. Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months.

  3. For citizens of non-EU countries: Attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).

  4. Recent biometric passport photo: With a white background and no glasses.

  5. Proof of financial solvency:

    • Copies of the last three months' salary receipts (monthly) showing a net monthly salary of at least 1,287.82 euros, along with a letter from the employer proving employment for at least one year, OR
    • Copies of your bank statements from the last three months (monthly) showing an average monthly balance of at least 3,863.46 euros.

      For university students:

      • Enrollment certificate.
      • Monthly income or scholarship information showing that you have received at least 772.69 euros per month in the last three months.

        For applicants over 65:

        • No need to prove financial solvency.

Note: If the applicant is the spouse, child, or dependent of a holder of a Mexican visitor visa, they may obtain the visa by presenting an international marriage certificate or birth certificate in Spanish, German, or English to prove the family relationship.

If the document is in another language, it must be apostilled and translated into one of these languages.

If you continue to receive your salary from Germany, please consult the following requirements:

  • A properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  • For citizens of non-European Union countries, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary page (Zusatzblatt).
  • A recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Original letter of responsibility from an organization or public or private institution inviting the foreigner to participate in a non-remunerated event or activity in Mexico. The letter must contain the following information:
    • Full name of the applicant and nationality;
    • Name or corporate name of the organization;
    • Official registration number, as applicable;
    • Purpose of the private or public organization or institution;
    • Complete address and contact information of the organization or institution;
    • Information on the activity the foreigner will perform or the project in which they will participate. The foreigner's activity must be related to the goals of the inviting organization or institution;
    • Estimated duration or approximate end date of the activity the foreigner will carry out;
    • Commitment to take responsibility for the foreigner's maintenance during their stay in Mexico and for their return to their country of origin or residence;
    • A copy of an official ID with signature and photograph of the person signing the letter.
  • Proof of financial solvency:
    • Copies of the last three months' pay slips (monthly) demonstrating a net monthly salary of at least 1,287.82 euros and a letter from the company as proof of employment for at least one year, or
    • Copies of your bank statements for the last three months (monthly) showing an average monthly balance of at least 3,863.46 EUR.
  • If the applicant cannot provide proof of financial solvency, a proof of financial solvency from the inviting private or public institution is required:
    • Original and copy of proof of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance of 13,033.00 EUR over the last twelve months. Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Educational System do not need to prove financial solvency.
  • Documents through which the applicant demonstrates they have the experience, capacity, skills, or knowledge required to carry out the activity for which they are invited, in original and copy.

 

A work permit (NUT) is required for all travelers who wish to perform paid work in Mexico, which must be requested by the employer in Mexico from the "Instituto Nacional de Migración en México (INAMI)".

The visa must be requested as follows, depending on the duration of the stay:

  • For stays of up to 180 days: "Visitor with permission to engage in remunerated activities."

  • For stays longer than 180 days: "Temporary Resident."

The consulate can process your visa ONLY if the work permit (NUT-Unique Processing Number) has been issued by the "Instituto Nacional de Migración en México". The requirements are:

  • Properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  • For citizens of non-EU countries, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the additional page (Zusatzblatt).
  • A recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • A copy of the work permit showing the NUT number (authorization number).
  • A copy of the acceptance or invitation letter from the Mexican employer: it must have an official letterhead, be stamped and signed. It must indicate the address of the future job, its duration, qualifications, a description of the work, and the gross monthly salary.
  • A copy of an identification document of the person signing the acceptance or invitation letter.

Important: Once you have received your authorization number (NUT), you have 30 days to schedule an appointment on the platform to process your visa.


Family Reunification

If you have already obtained a NUT visa, it is possible to apply for a visa for your family (spouse/children) under Family Reunification.

If you wish to apply for your visa and that of your family members at this consulate, you must schedule an appointment for each member.

On the day of the appointment, you must bring the following documents:

  • Properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  • For citizens of non-EU countries, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the additional page (Zusatzblatt).
  • A recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Original marriage certificate and birth certificates (international format) of your children, plus one copy of each. If they are official documents not issued in Mexico or Germany, they must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  • Proof of financial solvency.
    • Copies of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance of 1,287.82 euros for the last twelve months (month by month), or
    • Copies of your pay slips for the last six months showing an average net income of 1,287.82 euros per month.

For minor applicants:

  • Original and copy of the minor's birth certificate in international format in Spanish, German, or English proving the family relationship. If the document is in another language, it must be apostilled and translated into one of these languages.
  • A copy of both parents' identification documents.
  • Both parents must sign the visa application.
  • Both parents must be present on the appointment day. If not possible, provide one of the following documents:
    • A notarized and apostilled parental consent form. DOWNLOAD HERE.
    • A document certifying exclusive parental custody. If this document was not issued in Germany, it must be apostilled, translated into Spanish, German, or English, and certified by a notary in Germany.

 

  1. Properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  5. Responsibility letter from the company where the applicant will work. The letter should include the following information:
  • Full name of the applicant and nationality.
  • Name or legal name of the company.
  • Official registration number, as applicable.
  • Company’s purpose.
  • Full address and contact details of the company.
  • Information about the activity or project the applicant will participate in.
  • Estimated duration or approximate end date of the activity the applicant will carry out.
  • A declaration of joint responsibility for the applicant’s maintenance during their stay in Mexico and for their return to their country of origin or residence.
  • A copy of the official ID with signature and photograph of the person who signs the responsibility letter.

       6. Proof of financial solvency, which can be demonstrated through one of the following:

  1. Proof of investments or bank accounts in the applicant’s name with an average monthly balance of 64,369.89 euros over the last twelve months (month to month), or
  2. Documents showing that the applicant has employment or a pension with monthly net income greater than 2,564.74 euros, over the last six months (month to month)

 

  1. Properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  5. Proof of studies:
    • Original admission letter from a Mexican educational institution containing the following information:
      • Applicant's full name.
      • Level, class, and field of study.
      • Name of the study program.
      • Start and end dates of the course.
      • Course tuition fee.
      • Educational institution details
  6. Proof of financial solvency:
    • Copy of documents showing employment, pension, or monthly scholarship of at least 1,287.97 euros for the last three months (month to month), or
    • Copy of investment or bank statements showing an average monthly balance of 12,886.97 euros over the last three months (month to month), or
    • A letter from the educational institution stating that the student receives a scholarship or a document from a bank or financial institution confirming the scholarship and proving monthly income of at least 1,287.97 euros over the last three months (month to month).

       If the applicant is under 25 years old, financial solvency can be demonstrated by the parents. In this case, the parents must provide the following documents:

  • Guarantee declaration confirming that they will financially support the student with at least 1,287.97 euros per month.
  • Copy of both parents’ identification documents.
  • Original and copy of the birth certificate.
  • Copies of the last three months' pay slips showing a net monthly salary of at least 1,287.97 euros.

 

  1. Properly completed form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  5. Proof of financial solvency:
    1. Proof of investments or bank accounts of the applicant with an average monthly balance of 64,369.89 euros over the last twelve months (month by month), or
    2. Documents showing that the applicant has employment or a pension with net monthly income greater than 2,564.74 euros over the last six months (month by month), or
    3. Proof of investments or bank accounts of the inviting company, institution, or organization with an average monthly balance of 134,615.57 euros over the last twelve months (month by month). Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Education System are not required to prove financial solvency.
  6. Confirmation/invitation from the company, institution, or organization in Mexico (in Spanish and with the entity's address) confirming the applicant's unpaid activity in Mexico and the duration of the stay. Attach a copy of the identity document of the person who signed the invitation letter."

 

 

  1. Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.

  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).

  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.

  5. Invitation letter (in Spanish) with the full name and nationality of the applicant and the following details of the company or state agency:

    • Full name of the applicant,
    • Nationality of the applicant,
    • Name or legal entity of the company, institution, or organization,
    • Official registration number, if applicable,
    • Purpose of the organization/institution,
    • Complete address and contact information,
    • Information about the proposed activity or project. The activity must be related to the organization's objectives.
    • Duration of the activity,
    • Assumption of expenses and costs for the applicant,
    • Copy of the identity document of the person who signed the invitation letter.

  6. Copy of documents proving that the person has the necessary experience, capacity, skills, or knowledge to carry out the activity for which they have been invited. 

  7. Proof of financial solvency, which must be demonstrated by one of the following:
    • Proof of investments or bank accounts of the applicant with an average monthly balance of 64,369.89 euros over the last twelve months (month by month), or
    • Documents proving that the applicant has employment or a pension with net monthly income of more than 2,564.74 euros for the last six months (month by month), or
    • Proof of investments or bank accounts of the inviting company, institution, or organization with an average monthly balance of 134,615.57 euros over the last twelve months (month by month). Public institutions and private institutions belonging to the National Educational System do not need to provide proof of financial solvency.

 

  1. Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  5. Proof that the applicant is retired or a pensioner.
  6. Proof of financial solvency:
    • Provide the original and a copy of investments or bank accounts with an average monthly balance of 257,669.75 euros over the last twelve months (month by month),
    • or
    • Proof of income or pension of at least 6,447.25 euros net per month for the last 6 months.

  1. Properly completed application form, available in Spanish or English.
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  3. For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  4. A recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  5. Proof of financial solvency:
  • Copies of investments or bank statements showing an average monthly balance of €64,369.34 over the last twelve months (month by month), or
  • Copies of your last six months' payslips showing an average net monthly income of €3,863.46 and a letter from your current employer confirming that you will have the same job and income during your stay in Mexico, or
  • Ownership of real estate in Mexico worth €525,089.47

Required Documents for Rotary Program Students:

  • Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
  • For non-EU citizens, attach your residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  • Recent biometric passport photo, with a white background and no glasses.
  • Copy of the admission letter from the school in Mexico in Spanish, with signature, seal, and official logo.
  • Copy of the identity document of the person who signed the invitation or admission letter.
  • Copy of the "Guarantee Form" (Section E, Page 1).
  • Copy of the "Guarantee Form" (Section F, Page 1).
  • A letter from the Rotary organization stating that the scholarship will be covered and that the host family in Mexico will take care of accommodation and living expenses.
  • Proof of financial solvency:
    • Copy of investments or bank statements showing an average monthly balance of 12,886.97 EUR over the last three months (broken down month by month), in the name of the applicant or their parents.
    • Alternatively, a letter from the educational institution certifying that the student is a scholarship recipient, or a document issued by a bank or financial institution confirming the receipt of a scholarship with monthly income of at least 1,326.88 EUR.
  • Parental responsibility statement. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • Power of attorney in the name of the president of the Rotary Club in the city or district where the minor will reside, authorizing this person to complete the immigration procedures, legally represent the minor, and authorize their departure from Mexico. The power of attorney must be translated and apostilled or legalized to be valid in Mexico (it is very important that minors bring this power of attorney with them to Mexico).

For Minors:

  • Original and copy of the minor’s birth certificate in international format (Spanish, German, or English) that proves the family relationship. If the document is in another language, it must be apostilled and translated into one of these languages.
  • Copy of both parents’ identity documents.
  • Both parents must sign the visa application.
  • Both parents must be present on the day of the appointment. If not possible, present one of the following documents:
    • Paternal consent form signed before a notary public and apostilled. DOWNLOAD HERE.
    • Document proving exclusive parental custody. If this document was not issued in Germany, it must be apostilled, translated into Spanish, German, or English, and certified by a notary in Germany

 

 

It's possible to apply for a Family Reunification visa, if:

 

If a Family Member Holds Temporary Residency:

On the day of the appointment, you must bring the following documents:

  • Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Original passport and a copy of the page with your personal details. Non-EU citizens must also bring a copy of their residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  • Recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Marriage certificate or birth certificate, depending on your relationship with the family member (international format), one copy of each. If they are official documents not issued in Mexico or Germany, they must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  • Proof of Temporary Residency of the family member.
  • Proof of financial solvency:
    • Copies of investments or bank statements showing an average monthly balance of 1,287.82 euros over the last twelve months (month by month), or
    • Copies of your last six months' pay slips showing net monthly income of 1,287.82 euros.

For Minor Applicants:

  • Original and copy of the minor's birth certificate in international format (Spanish, German, or English) proving the family relationship. If the document is in another language, it must be apostilled and translated into one of these languages.
  • Copy of both parents' identity documents.
  • Both parents must sign the visa application.
  • Both parents must be present on the day of the appointment. If this is not possible, provide one of the following documents:
    • Paternal consent form signed before a notary public and apostilled. DOWNLOAD HERE.
    • Document proving exclusive parental custody. If this document was not issued in Germany, it must be apostilled, translated into Spanish, German, or English, and certified by a notary in Germany

If a Family Member Holds Permanent Residency:

  • Original passport and a copy of the page with your personal details. Non-EU citizens must also bring a copy of their residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet.
  • Recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Marriage certificate or birth certificate, depending on your relationship with the family member (international format), one copy of each. If they are official documents not issued in Mexico or Germany, they must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  • Proof of Permanent Residency of the family member.

If Your Spouse Holds a Mexican Passport:

This grants you the right to receive Temporary Residency.

On the day of the appointment, you must bring the following documents:

  • Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Original passport and a copy of the page with your personal details.
  • Non-EU citizens must also bring a copy of their residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet.
  • Recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Marriage certificate or birth certificate, depending on your relationship with the family member (international format), one copy of each. If they are official documents not issued in Mexico or Germany, they must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  • Proof of your spouse’s Mexican nationality.

If Your Son or Daughter Holds a Mexican Passport:

This grants you the right to receive Permanent Residency.

On the day of the appointment, you must bring the following documents:

  • Properly filled out form, available in Spanish or English.
  • Original passport and a copy of the page with your personal details. Non-EU citizens must also bring a copy of their residence permit in Germany and, if applicable, the supplementary sheet (Zusatzblatt).
  • Recent biometric passport photo with a white background and no glasses.
  • Marriage certificate or birth certificate, depending on your relationship with the family member (international format), one copy of each. If they are official documents not issued in Mexico or Germany, they must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
  • Proof of your child's Mexican nationality (Mexican passport/birth certificate).
