Do I NEED a visa to visit Mexico as a tourist?
- You need a visa if:
- You are a national of one of the countries in this list.
- Your US Visa stamped on your passport is expired.
- Your US Resident card is expired.
- EAD cards, I-797 A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20, F-1, TPS, I-512, or DS-2019 are NOT ACCEPTED to enter Mexico.
- You do not need a visa if:
- You are visiting Mexican maritime ports by cruise
- If the cruise docks, consult with cruise.
- You are a US citizen with valid passport
- You are a US Permanent Resident and you have BOTH a valid and unexpired RESIDENT CARD and passport of your nationality.
- You have a current, unexpired US Visa stamped in your current, unexpired passport.
- Stamped Visa or Resident Card must be valid during the length of stay in Mexico.
- You are a national from Ukraine, Russia, and Turkey
- Ukraine, Russia, and Turkey nationals can apply for an electronic VISA More information: click here
- You are a holder of an APEC Business Travel Card-ABTC.
- You are a national, Visa holder or a Permanent Resident of the following countries:
- Canada
- Japan
- Great Britain
- Any of the countries of the Schengen Area:

How do I make an appointment?
Booked solely through MiConsulado system.
- MiConsulado is available online: https://citas.sre.gob.mx/ or by phone: 1 424 309 0009.
- Due to high demand, we advise that you start your tourist visa application at least one month ahead of your planned travel date.
- One appointment per person. Each member of the family must have a separate appointment.
- Due to high demand, availability of appointment slots are limited. There are no walk-ins or emergency appointments.
- No third parties, Applicants must apply by themselves.
What is the cost of the visa application?

- In case of refusal, the payment is nonrefundable.
- Payment may be in cash, debit or credit card.
What else do I need to know?
- The physical presence of the applicant at the Consulate is an absolute requirement.
- On the day of the appointment, we will review documents, take biometric data (photograph and fingerprints) and perform a consular interview.
- The consulate DOES NOT GUARANTEEthe issuance of the visa the same day of the interview. The consulate will not take any responsibility for any plane tickets purchased before your visa has been approved.
- If you are coming to Houston for the sole purpose of obtaining a Mexican Visa, we encourage you to plan a minimum stay of 1 to 3 working days for your request to be processed. The time to process a Mexican visa may vary from one to ten business days.
- Marriage licenses or birth certificates from a country different from the U.S. need to have the apostille or legalization stamp.
- Any official documents that are not issued by United States authorities need to be legalized/apostilled. Along with its certified translation if the documents are in a foreign language other than Spanish and or English.
- All applicants must be legally in the USA at the moment of applying for a Mexican visa.

Traveling with Pets
- To import pets into Mexico, you must meet the requirements of the National Department of Health, Food Safety and Food Quality, SENASICA. The pet will be screened at the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Offices (OISA) located at international airports, border crossings and international seaports.
