Permanent and Temporary Residents of Mexico have the right to import their household goods duty-free once, within a period of no more than six months after the date of their formal entrance to Mexico.  Household effects are defined as those items that constitute the furnishings of a house and are exclusively for use, on their daily needs, by a person or family. This includes clothes, bedding, books. All of the items must have been purchased at least 6 months before moving.

Items that CANNOT be included in a Menaje de Casa are vehicles, weapons, ammunition, alcohol, any items considered for commercial activities, chemicals or gases, among others.

  • The name of the applicant stated on the application form and inventory must appear as it is stated on the Passport, Mexican Visa or Resident Card

    4. Relative of a Mexican
    5. Family member of a foreign person who is a temporary resident or permanent resident
    6. Family member of a diplomatic or consular official accredited in Mexico holding an ordinary passport
    7. Supervisor of a foreign company with a subsidiary in national territory or executive staff of commercial offices or Mexican companies abroad

Applicable to foreign nationals who are permitted by the Mexican State to process and obtain a visa through electronic means and records, when they intend to travel to Mexico by air to enter Mexico as a Visitor without permission to engage in paid activities.

Requirements:

  1. Valid passport or identity and travel document, which is valid under international law and which proves having a nationality that the Mexican State allows to obtain the Electronic Visa
  2. Complete the Electronic Visa application, providing the information required by the immigration authority.
  3. Digital photograph of the applicant's face without glasses, with a white background similar to the photo in the passport or identity and travel document, in .jpg, .jpeg or .png format, and weighing 2 to 5 MB.
  4. An image of your passport or travel document data sheet in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format, with a size of 2 to 5 MB, ensuring that the image does not exceed the document data sheet parameters and is displayed correctly.
  5. Traveling to Mexico by air.
  6. Payment of fees will be made in accordance with the provisions of Article 22 of the current Federal Fees Law.

    5. Humanitarian cause
    6. Scientific research or sample collection in national territory or jurisdictional waters of the country, after obtaining authorizations from the competent national authorities in waters of territorial jurisdiction
    7. Studies
    8. Participation in an event sponsored or sponsored by the Federal Public Administration, as well as by autonomous constitutional bodies for a maximum period of 180 days

Financial Solvency requirements:

  1. Investment or bank accounts with monthly ending balance of at least 680 days in UMA* funds (approx. $4,200 USD). To prove this, you need to provide:
    1. Printouts of electronic bank statements signed or stamped by financial institution, for the previous three months. From only one account.
  2. Pension or salary that yields a monthly income of at least 220 days in UMA* funds (approx. $1400 USD) after taxes (net income), during each of the previous three months.
    1. For pension, must provide the original or most recent letter form the Social Security or Pension issuer indicating the monthly amount that you receive; PLUS monthly financial statements in which that amount is reflected for the previous three months.
    2. For salary, must provide official paycheck stubs indicating the monthly amount required after taxes (net income) for the previous three months, PLUS letter of employment verification by employer.
