EL CONSULADO GENERAL DE MÉXICO EN SAN DIEGO
INFORMA SOBRE EL TRÁMITE DE CITAS, VÍA INTERNET,
DURANTE EL MES DE MARZO
San Diego, CA.- Marzo 3, 2014. El Consulado General de México hace del conocimiento de toda la comunidad mexicana en San Diego que el sistema de citas para tramitación de pasaportes y matrículas consulares, durante el mes de Marzo será principalmente a través de Internet.
El sistema de citas vía telefónica está en un proceso de actualización técnica para poder facilitar y agilizar su trámite, por lo que, quienes lo usen pueden estar sujetos a interrupciones en el servicio.
Durante el mes de marzo, le invitamos a utilizar Internet de esta manera:
Paso No. 1 - Ir al sitio de internet del Consulado General de México en San Diego: http://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/sandiego/
Paso No. 2 - Hacer click donde se marca. Lo dirigirán a: http://sreweb.mexitel.com.mx/mexitel_web/login/auth
Paso No. 3 - Se desplegará una pantalla donde solicitan su información, misma que deberá integrar por completo.
Paso No. 4 - Si es primera vez que se registra en nuestra página, favor de ingresar su correo electrónico, nombre y apellidos paterno y materno, teléfono y contraseña.
Paso No. 5 – Después de que obtenga su código secreto, tendrá la opción de hacer su cita automáticamente.
Paso No. 6 – Favor de llenar toda la información necesaria en el formulario electrónico: País de residencia, código postal, oficina consular donde quiera su cita y el tipo de servicio que requiere.
Paso No. 7 – Cuando termine de llenar todos los datos personales junto con elegir el día que quiere su cita; favor de hacer click debajo de la página donde acepta los términos y condiciones de la solicitud de citas.
Paso No. 8 – Una vez que acepte los términos y condiciones, tendrá que hacer click en “Envía tu solicitud de cita”.
Paso No. 9 –La página le dará una confirmación de que guardará sus datos en nuestro registro de datos electrónicos.
Paso No. 10 – La página le dejará saber que fue registrada exitosamente.

MÉXICO CONDENA USO DE LA FUERA DE AGENTE DE LA
PATRULLA FRONTERIZA EN MUERTE DE NACIONAL MEXICANO
Washington, D.C.- Febrero 20, 2014. La Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores expresa su profunda preocupación por la muerte del mexicano Jesús Flores Cruz causada por el uso de arma de fuego por parte de un agente de la Patrulla Fronteriza el 18 de febrero de 2014, en las cercanías de la garita de Otay Mesa, en California. Asimismo, reitera firmemente que el uso de la fuerza letal en tareas de control migratorio es inaceptable, por lo que el Gobierno de México espera el resultado de las investigaciones y que se deslinden responsabilidades como corresponde.
La Embajada de México en Estados Unidos y el Consulado General de México en San Diego contactaron inmediatamente a la Patrulla Fronteriza en sus oficinas centrales y en esa localidad, para solicitar información sobre el incidente, determinar la identidad de la persona fallecida y confirmar su nacionalidad. Adicionalmente, solicitó por la vía oficial una investigación exhaustiva de los hechos a las autoridades estadounidenses.
El Consulado General de México en San Diego permanecerá atento para brindar la asistencia que sea necesaria a la familia de la víctima.
El Gobierno de México reitera la urgencia de que se adopten las múltiples recomendaciones sobre el uso de la fuerza letal por parte de agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza, que han emitido la Oficina del Inspector General del Departamento de Seguridad Interna de Estados Unidos, así como el Foro Ejecutivo de Investigación de la Policía (Police Executive Research Forum), con objeto de evitar estos lamentables decesos que desafortunadamente ya suman 21 desde el año 2010. Múltiples voces desde el Poder Legislativo de EUA y de la sociedad civil -en ambos lados de la frontera- se han sumado ya a este llamado crítico.
La coordinación bilateral y los intercambios técnicos iniciados en este ámbito son la mejor vía para prevenir situaciones de uso excesivo de la fuerza por parte de las autoridades estadounidenses. Sólo bajo este ánimo de cooperación entre ambos gobiernos podremos continuar construyendo una frontera común como una zona de prosperidad y desarrollo.

BINATIONAL EXPEDITION
MEXICAN RESEARCHER FROM THE SCRIPPS INSTITUTE
OF OCEANOGRAPHY WILL PERFORM CIENTIFIC STUDIES
IN SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA WITH RENOWNED
AMERICAN OCEANOGRAPHIST WALTER MUNK
San Diego, CA.- Febrero 27, 2014. The Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego is pleased to announce that the Mexican researcher Octavio Aburto, from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at the University of California in San Diego (UCSD); will carry out a scientific expedition from March 2nd-8th, 2014. Cabo Pulmo National Park located at Southern Baja California, Dr. Walter Munk, a well-known internationally researcher and one of the best oceanographers, will participate in the expedition.
The objective of the experimental mission is to study the behavior of the manta ray “Mobula munkiana” (named this way in honor of Dr. Munk). This species is known to take massive jumps from the ocean at the Gulf of California.
Dr. Munk, a 95 year-old American scientist, has been recognized and received various honors, both nationally and internationally, including the Vetlesen Award, the Gold Medal from the Society of Astronomy, the Agassiz medal from the National Academy of Sciences and the National medal of Science of Kyoto. In his distinguished career he has been distinguished for his contributions to systems of tide predictions with military intentions, detection of tsunamis and the use of acoustics for submarine research.
He has dedicated a large part of his career to the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at UCSD as professor of Geophysics, an active member of the faculty and the college community.
The group of five researchers that will visit Cabo Pulmo are part of the Marine Program at the Gulf of California in the Scripps Institute of Oceanography which is coordinated by Octavio Aburto, Mexican scientist and member of the San Diego Chapter of Mexican Talen network; an organization promoted by the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego.
Remedios Gómez Arnau, Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, stated that the expedition to Cabo Pulmo represents a notable example of collaboration between American and Mexican researchers which opens the possibility of taking new actions of cooperation in the field of marine life sciences between both countries.
The Consul General also stressed the importance that a proposal promoted by members of the San Diego Chapter of Mexican Talent network includes a prominent scientific figure like Dr. Munk.
Dr. Octavio Aburto informed the media that a documentary will be produced on the activities of his investigation that will be produced in three trips with the idea of spreading and promoting ecotourism, biodiversity and scientific investigation of the Cabo Pulmo marine life reservation.
In correspondence to a petition of the Mexican Consulate, the results of the expedition will be accessible to the public in a workshop centered on scientific journalism that is organized by the Institute of the Americas in La Jolla.

MEXICO CONDEMNS THE USE OF LETHAL FORCE BY
BORDER PATROL AGENT IN THE DEATH OF MEXICAN NATIONAL
Washington, DC.- February 20, 2014. The Secretariat of Foreign Relations of Mexico is profoundly concerned by the death of Mexican national Jesús Flores Cruz, caused by the use of a firearm by an agent of the United States Border Patrol on February 18th, 2014, near the border crossing in Otay Mesa, California. We also firmly reiterate that the use of lethal force in border control operations in unacceptable. The Government of Mexico expects the results of the investigations and that those responsible be held accountable.
The Embassy of Mexico in the United States and the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego immediately contacted the Border Patrol, both at the central and local offices, to solicit information on the incident, determine the identity of the deceased, and confirm his nationality. Additionally, through official channels, we asked U.S. authorities to undertake an exhaustive investigation into the facts. The Consulate of Mexico in San Diego will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the family of the victim.
The Government of Mexico reiterates the urgency of adopting the multiple recommendations on the use of lethal force by agents of the Border Patrol that have been issued by the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as well as the Police Executive Research Forum, with the goal of eliminating unnecessary deaths that unfortunately now number 21 since 2010. Multiple voices from the United States Congress to members of civil society on both sides of the border have now joined that call.
Bilateral coordination and technical exchanges in this arena are the best way to prevent situations of excessive use of force by U.S. authorities. Only through cooperation between both governments will we be able to continue building our common border into a zone of prosperity and development.
