GENERAL INFORMATION

DO NOT BOOK FLIGHT TICKETS AND/OR RESERVE ACCOMMODATION BEFORE OBTAINING THE VISA, since it will not influence in any way the granting of the corresponding visa.

Due to the high demand on visa appointments, we are fully booked for December, therefore we will not release new appointments until January of 2026.

Appointments will be made only via MiConsulado website:

New appointments will be released every Wednesday after 5:30 PM

New appointments will open every Wednesday for the upcoming week.  If you don’t see ‘visas’ listed as type of appointment available when you sign in, that means there none available at the moment.  We suggest you try again the following Wednesday when new appointments will be released.  All appointments need to be scheduled using any of those three methods.  Currently, we do not accept walk-ins or applications being sent via e-mail.  We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

US Citizens, US Permanent Residents:
Effective March 1st 2010, all US Citizens, US Permanent Residents – including children – are required to present a valid US Passport, or Permanent Resident Card when entering Mexico (traveling by air, land or sea). If you do not have the aforementioned documents, consult other documentation accepted to prove your US Permanent Residence status. (Link)

Other nationalities and Non-US Permanent Residents:
Starting May 1st, 2010, all foreign nationals, regardless of their nationality, visiting Mexico for tourism, business and/or transit matters for less than 180 days; do not need a Mexican visa as long as they have a valid (not expired) USA visa in the passport. In this context, if you have a valid US visa in your passport you do not need to obtain a Mexican visa.

If the US visa stamped your passport already expired, but you have an official document or form to prove your legal status in USA, you should apply for a Mexican visa at this Consulate (I-797 A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 OR DS-2019 Forms won’t be good enough for entering to Mexico).

Cruise ships:
Visitors who travel on cruise ships that disembark at any Mexican port to visit the port and surrounding zones and embark on the same ship to continue their voyage, DO NOT require a visa.  They have a collective permission for a period of 21 days.  The passenger must carry a valid and not expired passport or travel document.  Please also check with the cruise ship line to follow their guidelines on this matter.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. To apply, minors (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by both parents (or legal guardian) and submit original birth certificate and one photocopy or original legal documents of proof of guardianship and one photocopy. If only one of the parents is present at the time of application there must be an original notarized authorization from the absent parent with a copy of both sides of their valid official ID, or original custody documents and one copy of them.
