Historical Background:

On June 18, 1985, coinciding with the official visit of then-President Miguel de la Madrid to the Federal Republic of Germany, a Career Consulate was established in Frankfurt. The office was initially located at Neuer Mainzer Str. 57. The growing commercial exchange between Mexico and Germany, as well as the increasing German investments in Mexico, led to greater political and economic relations. In August 1994, the Frankfurt Consulate was upgraded to a Consulate General due to the strengthening of bilateral relations and the growing importance of the city. The new Consulate General was located at Hochstrasse 35, and in November 1999, it moved to Taunusanlage 21. In October 2021, the office moved to Grüneburgweg 16-18, where it is currently located.

Mexican Honorary Consulates

Honorary Consulates are an extension of our Consulate. They help support Mexicans living in other regions who cannot travel to Frankfurt due to time and distance.

Honorary Consuls are usually prominent figures from the business or cultural world of a specific city where the Mexican government assigns some of the consular duties due to strategic interests like commercial, economic, or cultural relationships.

Note that Honorary Consuls only act as a point of assistance and information for Mexican citizens residing in their jurisdiction.

Due to the increasing number of requests and the fact that each consulate has only one person handling visitors, it is always better to request an appointment via the consulate's email.

Currently, we have two Honorary Consulates within our jurisdiction:
