140 AÑOS DE HISTORIA CONSULAR EN SAN DIEGO1879-2020Para celebrar el 140 aniversario del Consulado General de México en San Diego, nos complacemos en presentar esta muestra que retrata en documentos y fotografías la historia y evolución de una representación consular en la frontera más dinámica de México y Estados Unidos. Fiel a su historia, el Consulado continúa su trabajo representando los intereses de México y protegiendo los derechos de sus connacionales en el condado de San Diego, como lo ha hecho ininterrumpidamente desde el 25 de octubre de 1879. Protagonista y testigo de la historia fronteriza, el Consulado de México en San Diego ha sido un actor central en el diálogo e interacción entre México y California a través de los años.

140 YEARS OF CONSULAR HISTORY IN SAN DIEGO1879-2020To celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, we are pleased to present this exhibit that portrays in documents and photographs the history and evolution of a consular representation at the most dynamic border crossing between Mexico and the United States. True to its history, the Consulate continues its work representing the interests of Mexico and protecting the rights of Mexican nationals in San Diego County, as it has done without interruption since October 25, 1879. As a protagonist and witness of border history, the Consulate of Mexico in San Diego has played a central role in the dialogue and interaction between Mexico and California through all these years.
We would like to express our gratitude to the members of the 140th Anniversary Historical Committee (Dr. Paul Ganster, Heath Fox, Bob Morris), the Diplomatic Historical Archive of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Mexico, the San Diego Union Tribune and the San Diego History Center for their support and advice on historical research, and for facilitating access to the archival materials.
