ATENCIÓN AL PÚBLICO DE LUNES A VIERNES DE 7:00 A 14:00 HORAS

El Registro Civil permite que se registren en el consulado las personas nacidas en cualquier país distinto a México y que sean hijos de padre o madre mexicanos.

El registro se efectuará en DOS visitas:

• Primera (revisión de documentos): En la primera cita no se requiere la presencia de todos los interesados, sólo de la persona que mostrará la documentación para el registro de nacimiento, pudiendo ser el padre, la madre o la persona a registrar mayor de edad. Si en esta cita se cumple con la totalidad de los requisitos, el mismo día se le asignará fecha para su segunda cita. Recuerde que cada caso es distinto, por lo que podría necesitar más documentos el día de la primera cita.

• Segunda (en la que se realiza el registro): En esta cita comparecen todos los interesados (padre y/o madre y/o ambos, así como la persona a registrar), se toma huella del registrado y firmas de los padres. El mismo día se expide el acta de nacimiento y copia certificada.

REQUISITOS

1. Acta de nacimiento original de Estados Unidos (no abstract) en buen estado, expedida por el Hall of Records. Los nombres de los padres de la persona a registrar deben ser idénticos en el acta de nacimiento estadounidense a los que aparecen en las actas de nacimiento de los padres mexicanos y las identificaciones de éstos.

2. Identificación oficial vigente de la persona a registrar, que contenga nombre y fecha de nacimiento. Para los menores, la fotografía de la identificación deberá coincidir con las características físicas de la persona a registrar.

3. Original de las actas nacimiento de los padres que sean mexicanos. En caso de que éstos sean extranjeros y se hayan naturalizado como mexicanos, deberán presentar Carta de Naturalización Mexicana.

4. Si el registro de nacimiento lo realizará la persona interesada (registrarse por sí mismo), deberá presentar original del acta de matrimonio de sus padres, cuya fecha de matrimonio sea anterior (seis meses) a la fecha de nacimiento de la persona a registrar y pasaporte estadounidense.

Si los padres no están casados o se casaron después del nacimiento de la persona a registrar, el padre deberá comparecer a la segunda cita personalmente o por medio de “poder especial” notarial, sin importar si el interesado es menor o mayor de edad, a fin de otorgar su consentimiento para que su nombre y apellidos figuren en el acta de nacimiento de la persona a registrar.

5. Identificación oficial vigente con fotografía, nombre completo y firma de cada uno de los padres (si la madre tiene el apellido de casada, presentar acta de matrimonio). Los padres extranjeros comprobarán su nacionalidad e identidad con su pasaporte vigente que incluya su firma (pasaporte de libro).

6. Si alguno o ambos padres fallecieron, se deberá presentar original del acta de defunció

7. Si el padre o madre de nacionalidad mexicana obtuvo la nacionalidad estadounidense por naturalización, deberá mostrar el Certificado de Naturalización. Dicho documento le será devuelto inmediatamente.

IMPORTANTE: Si el papá falleció y los padres no se casaron, o el matrimonio fue posterior al nacimiento, el registro NO/NO procede en el consulado. En este caso, se sugiere contactar a la oficina del registro civil en México y solicitar la “Inscripción de Acta de Nacimiento Extranjera”.

PARA PERSONAS QUE NACIERON EN MÉXICO Y NO FUERON REGISTRADAS: Las personas que nacieron en México y nunca fueron registradas, podrán acudir al Consulado en horario de atención al público para solicitar información para la obtención del acta de nacimiento.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BIRTH REGISTRATION
OF PERSONS BORN ABROAD TO A MEXICAN FATHER OR MOTHER (DUAL CITIZENSHIP)

The Civil Registry allows people born in any country other than Mexico and who are children of a Mexican father or mother to register at the consulate.

Registration will be carried out in TWO visits:

• First (document review): At the first appointment, the presence of all interested parties is not required, only the person who will show the documentation for the birth registration, which may be the father, mother or the person to be registered who is of legal age. If all the requirements are met at this appointment, a date for your second appointment will be assigned on the same day. Remember that each case is different, so you may need more documents on the day of the first appointment.

• Second (in which the registration is carried out): At this appointment, all interested parties appear (father and/or mother and/or both, as well as the person to be registered), the fingerprint of the person registered and the signatures of the parents are taken. The birth certificate and certified copy are issued on the same day.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Original United States birth certificate (not abstract) in good condition, issued by the Hall of Records. The names of the parents of the person to be registered must be identical on the U.S. birth certificate to those that appear on the birth certificates of the Mexican parents and their identifications.

2. Current official identification of the person to be registered, containing name and date of birth. For minors, the photo on the identification must match the physical characteristics of the person to be registered.

3. Original birth certificates of the parents who are Mexican. In the case that they are foreigners and have become naturalized Mexicans, they must present a Mexican Naturalization Letter.

4. If the birth registration is to be done by the interested person (registering themselves), they must present the original marriage certificate of their parents, whose marriage date is prior (six months) to the date of birth of the person to be registered and a U.S. passport.

If the parents are not married or were married after the birth of the person to be registered, the father must appear at the second appointment in person or by means of a notarized “special power of attorney,” regardless of whether the interested party is a minor or an adult, in order to give his consent for his name and surname to appear on the birth certificate of the person to be registered.

5. Current official identification with a photograph, full name and signature of each of the parents (if the mother has a married name, present a marriage certificate). Foreign parents must prove their nationality and identity with their current passport that includes their signature (book passport).

6. If one or both parents died, the original death certificate must be presented.

7. If the father or mother of Mexican nationality obtained American nationality through naturalization, he or she must show the Naturalization Certificate. This document will be returned immediately.

IMPORTANT: If the father died and the parents did not marry, or the marriage was after the birth, the NO/NO registration is required at the consulate. In this case, it is suggested to contact the civil registry office in Mexico and request the “Registration of Foreign Birth Certificate”.

FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE BORN IN MEXICO AND WERE NOT REGISTERED: People who were born in Mexico and were never registered may go to the Consulate during business hours to request information on obtaining a birth certificate.
